BrokenFiendShow poetry

"Let me fly
Let me fly
Let me rise against that blood-red velvet sky
Let me chase it all
Break my wings and fall
Probably survive
So let me fly
Let me fly...

Let me break!
Let me bleed!
Let me tear myself apart I need to breathe!
Let me lose my way!
Let me walk astray!
Maybe to proceed...
Just let me bleed!

Let me out
Let me fade into that pitch-black velvet night..."

- Pain of Salvation,  extracts from the song "Undertow."

These are words my heart always echoes. I sort of feel like this often, so it fits. Unlike the quote below, this is more my personality. I guess the reason I post it here, is because I want to fill out this bloody page a bit. So...yeah. That's it. I'm shallow.

"We cling to what is gone. Is there anything in this life but grief?"

"There's love. There's hope...for some. There's hope that you'll find something worthy... that your life will lead you to some joy... that after everything... you can still be surprised."

"Is that enough? Is that enough to live on?"

Perhaps the quote that summed up my life quickest, taken from the TV show Angel. Yeah, I know, I am sad, but what do you expect? I'm hardly a nice guy, as many of you might notice. And truly, I don't give a fuck. Yeah, I'll swear and be nasty, drink and get shagged and shag and not care. I'll watch daytime TV if I can, or sit in a pub and read while getting pissed, quoting poetry...I'll quote Milton's Lucifer to preachers on the street, just to get a rise of them. I want reaction. Reaction of the people. Something better than the stale and boring faces they have every day, the routines. I am sick and tired of the human race and their pathetic attempts to be good, to be 'proper'.

I am the queer one in the corner, 5'11", slim, with a leather duster that has seen better days, dark hair and blue eyes. I am the one with the scar on the cheek, the tattoo on my hand, the cigarette hanging from my lips. I am the one wearing army boots, black jeans, belt with silver buckle. The one with the rings, the one who has a cigarette behind his ear and a zippo lighter. I am the one who flips you a two-finger salute should you stare, and knocks back Jack Daniels as if it was no tomorrow. That's me.

I have a pet hate for people who can't spell or do chatspeak. And wannabe goths who put everyone into stereotypes. I hate it. Hate it with a passion and I shall hunt those people down and give them a piece of my mind.

When it comes to my own poetry, I try to rhyme. More because it is interesting trying not to make it forced. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy freeverse. I used to do only freeverse. Now, I am trying this.

I'd like to thank Sharcu for the logo here. He was great making it, so check out his site.

Also, check out some of my favourites, like AngelxOfxDeath, Menecairiel and CBminstrel. All great poets, and I enjoy reading them.

I'd be more than happy to discuss poetry with anyone, life philosophy and most things. I comment harshly on poems, and if you do not like it, you shouldn't be posting poetry online. So deal. I will do the same if anyone slaughter down my poetry. It's life.

We'll be shooting back

your poetry is meaningful and makes others come out of there jaded obscurity and see the light of the vibrant and abstract world that you paint with your words.
