Saffron
my prayers are like fireflies
captured in bell jars
without airholes,
left for dead, forgotten by morning,
dumped into the grass,
blown away as they dry
i fear i am
another forgotten miracle
like fireflies in a jar
(who will see me
before the light goes away?)
Many people claim to be poets, and few actually are~~I am not one of those persons.

MJ Donnelly on August 7Your self-effacing statement at the top of your page is curious in that the ‘generally’ accepted definition of a poet is such; someone imaginative or creative, an artistic person or, a writer of poems, especially as a vocation. I say this because, after reading one of your recent works, “geisha,” I am wholly convinced that you are indeed, ‘a poet.’
