Sami Jenkis was born of Sleep in 2004. Since his first exposure to spoken word in 2002, he has joined the poetry community throughout Florida and the United States. Sami Jenkis has been published in Maganda Magazine and competed in the 2005 and 2006 National Poetry Slams and will be returning in 2007 as a member of the Broken Speech Orlando slam team. He has also helped run the "exhale" open mic in Gainesville, Florida. Joining the Apartment Poets in the fall of 2005, he continues to try to open minds and dialogue through the medium of poetry.
