SudarshanShow poetry

Hi Folks, I am Sudarshan, I am 26. I am from Hyderabad, India. Partly brought up in Pune, mostly in Hyderabad, but I owe my allegiance to The Biryani and The Irani Chai. I am a Gemini to the core. I am basically a confused soul, a fun loving guy and yes a little egoistic about my talents. I owe my poetry to one person, I am glad she brought the poet out of me, if not for her my thoughts would have been just thoughts, now I can paint them, now I can live them, now I can love them. I do not like to participate in any contests. I write poetry for my own happiness and satisfaction and for that my poems are absolutely priceless. But if the Contests help me improve and more importantly if I can help anyone improve with it, and if the judge(s) share the same views, likes and dislikes, I would'nt mind to enter such a contest. Any comments on my poems and me are welcome and the favor would be returned gleefully.

I am looking for a career in research and teaching, I dont have any style in writing my poems, I write them with passion , I disagree with the purists, poetry is the art of expressing your deeper thoughts, its a medium through which you can bring your fantasies to life, it gives shape to your thoughts. I dont think subjecting them to rules would do any good, while its fabulous to integrate a kyrielle into your poem ,its fantastic to mix both a palindrom or a paradelle into one poem, but the joy of expressing yourself in simple understandable words is simply amazing, happy poetry folks.

My favorite poem (simple yet powerful) is written by Edgar Allan Poe,

To F------S. S. O-------D

Thou wouldst be loved? –then let thy heart
From its present pathway part not
Being everything which now thou art
Be nothing which thou art not.
So with the world thy gentle ways,
Thy grace, thy more than beauty,
Shall be an endless theme of praise,
And love ?a simple duty.

My favorite quote again by EAP (I strongly believe this),
“With me poetry had been not a purpose, but a passion: they must not ?they cannot at will be excited, with an eye to the paltry compensations, or the more paltry commendations of mankind.?
"Regard your good name as the richest jewel you can possibly be possessed of,endeavour to be what you desire to appear."
