While sitting outside on that cold night I didn’t feel anything. I was so numb from the pain that I couldn’t even feel the blood slowly run down and off my arm. But then I felt a sudden warmness, another soul next to mine, another soul that will go through this hell of a world which leads to nothing with me. And with this soul with mine none of them mattered, none of the judgmental people, none of the hypocrites or shallow bitches. It doesn’t matter anymore if we get judged cause I bet they never would’ve guessed what we’re going through, or where we are now. None of them that called us emo would’ve ever known that it was so. And that's why none of them will ever matter, they don’t know shit about us and we don’t know them.

richardwhyte : Where is your poetry?? on August 31Hey,
I really like the way you say at the end of your blog entry above that "they don’t know shit about us and we don’t know them." I like this because you also acknowledge that you don't know them, and that to judge them (who judge you) is to fall into the same trap they fall in to. It is hard being looked at a certain way, and judged in a certain way, but I don't feel that the answer is to hate those people but to love them, to show them compassion so that they might start to understand that what they think is not always correct. By hating and judging them back all we do is create more separation and judgment, which doesn't change anything.
Everyone should be judged not on qualities (what you wear or look-like or speak like, or what music you listen to - all qualities) but on relations and actions (ie. how you act and how you treat others). It is a pity more people don't understand this. Judging people based on qualities is a really limited thing to do, and is nothing but a short-cut which ends up cutting you off from the "real" world. Judging based on qualities distorts the world as it really is in a sense.
An example - there were 20 children who were involved in a scientific test. They spent an hour away from their parents and when they were returned they were told to tell their parents one of two things. 10 of them were told to say they went to a party and had sugary treats. The other 10 were told to say they had healthy food. The 10 that said they had sugar, regardless of their "actual" behavior, were criticised by their parents for being hyper. The 10 that supposedly had healthy food were all treated as if they were good, again, regardless of their actual behavior.
Here we have a clear example of an idea, a mere quality, actually distorting a parents view of reality to the degree where they did not actually see reality. They didn't see their children, but reduced them to a quality (sugar = bad/healthy = good) and treated them according to a short-cut, rather than judging them on their actions.
Just a thought. Hope you are doing well.
And by the way - where is all your poetry gone?? I can't seem to find it on your page?
Love,
