I know that a lot of people run contests to raise the issue of abuse but being a victim of it myself I find that it is an important issue that must forever be raised. I know it may not ever be stopped because their is to much cruelty in the world, but our words will allow the victims to know that they are not and never will be alone in the situation.
My name is Charlotte I was once a vicitm of sexual and physical abuse aswell as mental. I stayed silence for a long time before speaking out. When I did my world changed for better but also for worse. I lost my father to it and was left with the daunting fate of fearing trust. When I joined this site I found that writing about it helped me as it let out those feelings I trapped. However I do not write about it alot because it is a memoir that will forever scar and hurt.
However I started a group called silence angels where people could join together to talk about their problems and the other members help and be there for them. our motto is as follows.
We are the angel's silenced by the earth only needed when someone is down...we are ignored, torn and betrayed...but together we stand forth and unite..making it clear to all that we can be silenced no more.
Abuse is counted in so many forms and some are not aware of it.
Physical abuse is when other hurts you in a way that is not right and is often repeated such as slapping or punching.
Sexual abuse is when another person touches you in a sexual way and takes advantage of you.
Mental abuse when you are put down or be littled and made to feel bad about yourself.
Even rape and bullying can be counted as a form of abuse however many may not consider it but none the less they have the same effects.

I am not running this to advertise my poetry however I am running this to try and help raise the situation because many remained silenced and never preach out for the help...or those who are spotted are never given the help.
for this contest you can write many things.
write about your own experience believe it or not it can be theraputic
write a letter to your abuser and explain how you feel, how have they affected you and your life
write a poem of support and encouragment that will make one who is silenced from their abuse feel warmer and less alone
write a poem about how this situation and issue makes you feel
whatever your mind Inspires. I will be leaving prewrites open and I will try my up most hardest to comment on every entry entered. you may also enter more than once.
