Welcome everyone, those who are familiar with these challenges and those who are new to the experience.
The concept is simple. Write me a poem WITHOUT using any of the words in the anti-wordbank. If you use any of the words you will be disqualified. Have fun, be original, and remember: Don't use any of the wordbank words.
1: I
2: am
3: the
4: very
5: sad
6: of
7: a
8: quiet
9: some
10: this
11: he
12: she
13: it
14: they
15: them
16: his
17: her
18: we
19: all
20: were
21: dead
22: in
23: where
24: then
25: close
Contractions are ok, but pluralization is not. If you use a word from the list with an s on the end, please make sure that the s requires an apostrophe and is used correctly. Please check your spelling.
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on October 12
- Rewards: Gold: 600, Silver: 400, Bronze: 200, Honorable mention: 2 people
- Final notes: Wow! A much better turnout than the last two Anti Word Bank contests. I was very impressed with the turnout and with each entry. Unfortunately, I had to remove 5 or 6 entries do to usage of the words in the list, but the 8 at the end did very well. Thank you all for your entries and I hope you'll enter AWB Ver 4.0. Look for comments on each of the 5 finalists. Thanks again and congrats to all!

Whoa... this is super hard!
not sure if I can enter or not, because I'm not sure if I can do it...
Very good idea though.
I might give it a go tomorrow, or something... idk... seems too hard for me! XD -
I dont know if you will get alot of people entering because your "limiting there emotional inspiration" lol
-
-
Actually, I don't believe I am limiting their emotional inspiration, more so I am encouraging to use a thesaurus. Inspiring creativity is the goal here.
-
-
I have to say that this is a challenge... but it doesn't really make me want to get out my thesaurus. Making it so I couldn't use words like a lot, big, fun, etc. would make someone need to get out the thesaurus. But words like I, a, he, she, etc... there aren't substitutes for those words. Good luck with your contest

I understand your frustration and anti-wordbanks aren't meant to be easy. They stretch the mind and require serious thought. Definitly not for the faint of heart. Thank you for the good wishes and if you do decide to give it a shot, I think you would find that it can be quite challenging and fun.

No frustration from me
I am not into writing much poetry lately and was just voicing my opinion to you. I think when you hold Ver 4, I would suggestion including words people use a lot that are easy to replace and would make a poem better (like I suggested above, words like: a lot, big, fun).
