Did you ever come across the detective novels of Dell Shannon (who wrote in the 1960s). Her Spanish-Californian detective Luis Mendoza had a cat called El Senor, who was partial to a saucer of scotch and ginger ale?
AND, in real life, some neighbours of ours once had the bright idea of serving Bailey's Irish Cream on their Xmas pudding... It was duly waiting on the sideboad in a sauce-boat, but while they were still enjoying their turkey, a relative telephoned from abroad - they all crowded into the hall to take the call,not noticing that Puss had slipped into the dining-room.... and and when they returned after the quite prolonged conversation, she had just finished consuming the Bailey's... Not much chance of finding a Vet on Xmas Day... so they brought her to us, on the grounds that as a former Leading Firewoman, my mother should be able to cope with ANYTHING!... Well, she did cope, of course... But just imagine trying to force (cold) black coffee down the throat of a VERY drunk feline!!! -
