exclusive: [invite contest]

Some of my favorites have been invited
for the first time,
some for the second time.

I can definitely change prompts, so just ask me if you'd like a change of prompt.

I have put some "restrictions"/optional ideas for some of you
just for fun/a challenge,
but you can break them if you're feeling a little genius/rebellious.
!

You know I like what you do,
so do it for me.

aanika
"See I came like a flame in the night
Like a ghost in the dark; there's a ray, there's a light
There's a hope, there's a spark
But when planets collide they'll never see eye to eye
Until they decide to set their differences aside
And this is why only one of us will survive"
-Stimulate, Eminem

Yeah, I know Eminem lyrics are a little random,
but I also know you don't hate him
and neither do I.

Restriction: Don't reference time/numbers.

account disabled
Prompt: Write something based on any Latin or French or Spanish word/phrase.

e.g. Draco dormiens nunquam titillandus
la/le fromage
el perrito

Hehe. (No, you don't have to use those examples.)

ardentMarch
Prompt: shutter

Open it, close it ...

Auburn Sunrise
Prompt: http://phanoudu91.deviantart.com/art/WentWorth-Miller-94008393

combined with "Camera prison"

As per usual, I want you to somehow (even minor-ly) make the poem your own perspective on life, etc., etc. Don't kill me for the prompt.

Optional Word Bank:
holly (trees)
intensity
molten

Cannonsfire
Prompt: prophecy

Optional Idea: You can base it on Cassandra from mythology.

Dalaney
Prompt: fifteen (the age, the number, w/e it makes you think of)

kiwigirljacks
Prompt:
http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh43/phantasyintrigue-x/ScarlettJohansson2.jpg

combined with "The flowers lie"

Mairi bheag
Prompt: serpent

Not as in Slytherin, unless you want it to be.

markgrif
Prompt: acid

Restrictions: No alliteration, or minimal alliteration.

MuddyKing
Prompt: "My mother said my shadow often looked like a cloud.
I said I often felt like one."
-Clouds, Amber Tamblyn

narcissist
Prompt: overrated smile

piggyback
Prompt: a focused fugue

Polaja
Prompt: spark

silver.
Prompt: Incorporate 3 of these (minor/indirect incorporations of all 3 prompts is fine, because I don't want to be a jackass.)

1]motion
2]green paint
3]a cat's meow

sheltered
Prompt: I want the most direct and literal thing you've ever written--minimal use of metaphors and similes is what I want.

the atlantic
Prompt: ambiguity found in trees

Restriction: No punctuation.

zochit2me
Prompt: dust

Restriction: No more than say...5 gerunds/-ing words.

Like I said,
I can change your prompt
if you're drawing a blank with the one you have now.

You have until October 25th , unless I decide to extend the contest.

You can definitely chuck my restrictions and ideas into a shallow pool of "Hell no!" if you so desire.

Provide credit if any is cited.

Have fun,
and don't hurt me for the prompts--you know I can change them for you if you just ask.

,
Jessica

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on November 13
  • Rewards: Gold: 1234, Silver: 123, Bronze: 123, Honorable mention: 5 people
  • Final notes:
Have you ever looked at the entries in a contest and said, "Aw, shucks"?

The Bronze was the hardest trophy to decide on; after rereading entries and talking to my co-judge, kiwigirljacks (who should have entered, but ended up co-judging ), I can safely say

all the honorable mentions were worth of Bronze.

I want to make another contest similar to this; I know you probably all write for fun and DON'T care about trophies...

so enter the next one you're invited to, PLEASE.

    Thanks for playing
and read the Gold winner (chewing bottles)

    Jessica
