Form Poetry Celebration #131

We are hosting a Form Poetry Celebration. We both love gracefully flowing rhyme, both to write and to read. This contest is open to everyone on AllPoetry.

* * * If you would like to join us as members of the Winklings family, we welcome your application. Press here.

The only rule for this contest is that the poem must have a rhyme scheme. It can be a recognized form or a form of your own design.

If you use an invented form please place the form specifications in the author's box and credit the inventor.

If you wish to learn more about form poetry please go to:

http://www.shadowpoetry.com/resources/wip/types.html

We will comment on the poems during the contest and offer suggestions to perfect the form.

We look forward to reading some creative poems. We are judging on poems that flow and don't force the rhyme.

There are only two simple rules.

1) Please choose a plain color background. It is acceptable to use a border if the typing is against a single color backing.

2) No picture to accompany the poem. We feel that a fine poem stands on its own merit and does not need an illustration.

Other than that, please treat each other as adults and use common sense.

Good luck and have fun!

"We feel that a great poem stands on its own merit and does not need an illustration." This statement is the height of arrogance and I see it repeated again and again on this site, in total ignorance of a branch of poetry. Many poets that present the image they based their poem on are not "decorating" them like some Victorian poesie albums, (which there is nothing wrong with either) - they are providing an integral piece of the whole.
    • I understand your point of view. However this poetry site does not allow non-paying members to submit a picture with their work. This contest rule is a way of making the contest fair to all participants and not penalizing anyone for the inability to post an illustration. It is not meant to be arrogant. Should AllPoetry decide to allow all poets to submit pictures then this rule would not be necessary.
