NOTE: I have been asked if I could keep the contest open for another 2 days... I will be judging Thursday or Friday. I hope that is OK with everyone -Thank you
We each have the ability to choose how we live our lives. Below I have listed several religions and their version of the Golden Rule. Don’t tell me about religion and all of its cracks and failures.
Tell me what you believe, or don’t believe, spiritually.
Christians Golden Rule – “In everything, do unto others, as you would have them do unto you; for this is the law of the Prophets.”
Judaism says “Whatever is hateful to you, do not do it to your neighbour. This is the whole Torah; all the rest is commentary.”
Sikhism follows the rule, which states; “I am a stranger to no one; and no one is a stranger to me. Indeed, I am a friend to all.”
In Taoism it is “Regard you neighbour’s gain as your gain, and your neighbour’s loss as your own loss.”
Confucianism believes that “One word which sums up the basis of all good conduct; is loving kindness. Do not do to others what would cause pain if done to you.”
Baha’i Faith says, “Lay not on any soul a load that you would not wish to be laid upon you and desire not for anyone the things you would not desire for yourself”
Jainism believes, “One should treat all creatures in the world as one would like to be treated.”
Another twist can be found in Native Spirituality, which lives by the rule that “We are all as much alive as we keep the earth.”
In Buddhism it is to “Treat not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful.”
While Hinduism finds “This is the sum of duty; do not do to others what would cause pain if done to you.”
And finally Islam’s Golden Rule: “Not one of you truly believes until you wish for others what you wish for yourself.”
Rules:
1. Respect each other – no nasty comments about someone else’s belief
2. No preaching
3. For my own interest, if you are willing to share, in your authors comments please let me know what religion you follow, if any! You won’t lose the contest if you don’t do this… honest!
4. Max 2 entries each
5. Prewrites are allowed, but only if they fit the subject - don't just throw something in for the sake of entering - you won't win!
That’s it! Go, Write, Be Great!!!

Wow you really been studying to know what all those religions says about the Golden Rule...
-
interesting on how everysingle religion has basically the same golden rule, it really must be important
-
interesting contest...good luck with entries...freda

Personally, I think all the tenets have made the same basic mistake. You can't assume that other people react the same to things as you would - I love chocolate, but a diabetic wouldn't necessarily thank me for buying them it! You have to accept that others are not the same as you are before you can consider what they would want you to do for them. That's just my opinion, though.

this is a good contest...although i feel really sorry for you because you have to judge them all....theres alot of them...good luck!!! *Much Love, Rachel* *slowly dieing without your help, I reach for your hand and you pull it away*

Thank you for the silver cup. Only verse could hope to capture the experiance of the first time I heard the voice of the Holy Spirit. I am so touched that it translated to others.
