Ok, the title says it all.
What I want are poems to make me see a glimmer of light at the end of long dark despondent tunnel of nothing but depression and failure and tension and manipulation and all those other nasties... well, you get the picture. Make me see that there is good in life and make me want to carry on living. I've had a bit of a rough time lately and I need something to keep me going.
Here are some ideas:
-Kiddie poems. You know the sort. I read a story about a little boy who went to the hopital to see him baby brother who wasn't expected to live (he was premature and in an incubator) and the nurses didn't let him in. The only reason why he was going in was because he wanted to sing to his brother. He was convinced that that would help pull him through and his mother pushed stright through the nurses and told him to sing. Well, the babys temperature descreased rapidly and his heart rate stabilsed and he fully recovered. What do you know? The gift little children have. One truly enchanting story. Really touching. Here's another something you might like to have a look at to inspire you (turn your seakers up!) -http://www.good4asmile.com/heartsoul/miracle.htm
-Poems about the beauty of our world - put the famine and the terroism and the discrimination that's going on today to teh back of your mind for a little while and let's concentate on the best bits of our world - the outsanding beauty of our countryside, for example, or the sheer gorgeousness of the Mediterranean sea in the middle of June. You get what I mean.
-Christian poems about how God will help us through pain if we believe in Him and ourselves. Just lean on Him if you ever need help, guys, and He will listen. You are, after all, His children and He loves and cars for you and always will. Ask for forgiveness, mean it and believe it and learn from your mistakes and He will grant it too you.
-Funny poems. Call me childish put I love poems about farts and toilet stuff. You're never too old to be immature.
-Perhaps you've got over something and feel really proud of yourself? So you should be! Whether it be bullying, an illness, or whatever, I'd like to hear it.
Well, I think you get the idea now! Inspire me! I want to smile! I want to cry with happiness! I want to see that there is hope in this cruel, callous world that we live in.
Now for the dreaded rules...
-No erotica or adult stuff (firstly, because I can't read it and secondly because it's usually gross and certainly not appropriate for this contest). No depressing, suicidal stuff either (unless it's about recovering from it - and even then don't make it too graphic!)
-No swearing (please!)
-I am going to allow prewrites because I really don't like contests which don't!
-A maximum of 3 poems per person and try not to make them too long
-Try and comment on at least two of my poems (but I won't hold you to that one)
-Put 'Hope comes from within' in the authors comments so I know you've read these rules. If you don't you'll immediately be disqualified.
*This contest will automatically close after 25 entries so get your poem in now!*
The winner will get 300 points and, depending on how many points I've got left, I might award second and third prize.
Well, that's it! Come on, have some fun with this and make me smile!

It's nice to see a contest that isn't all doom and gloom at the moment... I do not know if I have overcome the writers block yet but if I do I will enter
Good luck in judging

"Hope comes from within"...but I honestly don't agree with that statement. I'm just doing what the rules said. I believe hope comes from the One Who gives it- God. He tells us to hope in Him. But, I'm not trying to say that to push that idea on you... just to share my own thoughts on that.

...sorry, just saw comments & can't HEP mahself! Lots of religious debating on the site, I've noticed...God (whomever you believe him to be) IS WITHIN, so logic follows, he put the Hope in there...oh well, semantics, I guess...looking to see who won, haven't seen winner's name yet...GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!...swan
