Who or what has influenced you, molded you, played a role in shaping you? How have you been sharpened into your present self? With this contest I’m looking for poetry describing a relationship/encounter/experience that has impacted your life and has contributed significantly to the development of the person you are today. This can be about a relationship with positive or negative impact and can be any type of relationship (friend, mentor, teacher, parent, significant other, sibling, etc) or an experience or encounter that changed your life and resulted in the current you. Ultimately what I want is your heart poured out upon the page!
A few rules:
1. Limit two entries per person and pre-writes are allowed (as long as it fits the contest and rules )
2. No erotica...it’s just not that kind of contest.
3. Limit profanity....dig deeper.
4. Any style as long as it has some form of creativity...and is not forced. Don’t write just to write...write to engage me, which means put your all into it!
Points will be awarded as follows
1st Place: 375 points
2nd Place: 150 points
3rd Place: 75 points
And a few points here and there may be awarded for honorable mentions!
Most of all....have fun! Good luck and I look forward to reading!
A Few more honorable mentions worth reading

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on November 1, 2004
- Rewards: Gold: 375
- Final notes: Thank you all for entering my contest....my apologies for it taking so long to judge, I've been unexpectedly busy as of late. There were some really excellent entries and that also made it a bit difficult! But it is done! This was truly an interesting contest to judge because the topic was so personal and everyone put so much into their work and approached it quite differently!
I'm truly sorry that I couldn't give more trophies because there were so many I thought deserving...some of them include:
I.o.u by sqaunderous
In My Mind's C-Bag by Gaurdian
Cloth by el desdichado
Grown by b funkadelic
yellow III by edpeterson
and
Fishing with my Grandfather
by nobodysees
Again, thank you all for entering! I will be commenting on everyone's work, it just may take some time!!Entries [22]

Excellent
nice contest, I'd enter but I don't have a prewrite that fits and as of now don't have time to think at all. I'l be sure to come back and check though.
I like the premise of this contest in general. Good on you for sponsoring it. -
I didn't think this was a contest when I entered, but I think I put in something that fits. I believe it does, anyways. Thanks for the idea!!

This is a great idea for a contest. I've been waiting for a contest that actually interested me, and this fits that category absolutely. Thank you for this.
-
Well, your welcome! And thank you for your kind comment!
-
Hmm so many people have influenced me - my parents, siblings, Leo Buscaglia, Audrey Hepburn, Jesus Christ, Gandhi, friends, ... I'll bookmark this. Some of my prewrites may work
since I've written several about Audrey, J.C. and even Gandhi. I'd like to come up with something fresh too. I'll give it some thought. Interesting idea.

Great
Hey there, this is such a cool idea for a piece, really hard to think of though. There are so many! Great name and idea, I'll bookmark it and see if I can produce anything! Great and wonderful job!

Well, I clicked, so I'll comment. I think this is a great way of acknowledging someone who has influenced you... I entered a prewrite that's about the transition I made from an abusive marriage to using my boyfriend as a muse... I think it fits this contest better than the one I originally wrote it for.
