"That weapon will replace your tongue. You will learn to speak through it. And your poetry will now be written with blood."
I started to write in late 2006. I'm not really sure why... I just wrote a love poem for my then-boyfriend. I won't ever post it, as it's extremely bad, but that's when I noticed that this is what I wanted to do. Write. I wanted to use words to reach out to people. People who I love. People who I don't know. People who maybe hate me for what I am.
"And if you think I'm corny
Then it will not make me sorry
It's your right to laugh at me
And in turn it's my opportunity
To feel brave"
~The Ark, It takes a fool to remain sane
I'm one of those slightly weird loners, you know? Always sitting alone in the class room, very shy, hard to make friendship with. Bad talker, good listener - if interested. I have a bad knowledge of human nature; actually, I've been fucked so often (metaphorically) that it's a wonder I'm still so easily trusting people when I like them. However, I also recognise people who I really don't like - bigot idiots who want to tell me that I'll burn in hell... you know, save your breath. I'm as atheistic as they come.
"You ought to know: Just because you’re full of it
It doesn’t mean that you’re the shit
So take a good look at me
Now, Here’s some good advice:
Try some manners, fuck-face!"
~The Ark, Rock City Wankers
Now where was I... writing. Late 2006. That's when I got into an Anne-Rice-based chat-RPG and that's when things started to move forward. First I played Captain Jack Harkness (you know, the omnisexual space hero from Doctor Who/Torchwood) and then I created my own character, Blake Johnson, or, as I later realised, Blake Craven. He started out as a simple, guitar-playing, song-writing, assassin with a litte HIV-problem... but now he's much more. He's the character I feel most connected with by far and he's the one who has written 90% of the poetry you will find here. And really... when you base a character on Matt Bellamy, how could he not become your "muse"?
"Of course it is happening inside your head, but why one earth should that mean that it is not real?"
~Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
