Questions about the Group Area (See general questions)

1 - 5 of 5
  1. How do I change the owner of my group?

    • Make sure the user you want to lead your group is in the group already.
    • Start at your individual group page
    • Choose Edit Settings under Group Actions.
    • Next to "Group Leader", along the left, enter the name of the user you would like to be the new owner of the group.
    • Click "Submit Group"
    • You will receive a message that the group owner has been changed. You will now be a regular member of the group.
  2. How do I find a good group?

    Browse the group list!
    • Look for a group that has a description you sound interested in
    • Hopefully it will have a fair number of members
    • Hopefully the group's poem list was updated fairly recently.
    • Dive right in! You can be a member of multiple groups, and can leave at any time
  3. How do I promote, demote, or kick out a member of my group?

    • Only the group leader or a "promoted" officer can promote or demote members from your group.
    • Start at your individual group page
    • Choose Member List under Group Options.
    • Choose Promote, Demote, or Kick to the right of the user's name
    • If you chose Kick, you will be asked to enter a reason for kicking them from the group. This should be something like "You were not active enough", or "You didn't get along well with the group". Please be diplomatic, as harassment is not tolerated, even if provoked.
    • This message will be sent to the user and recorded by our moderator system.
  4. How do I start a group?

    • Make sure you are in the 'browse groups' page. If you are on a specific group page already, choose browse all groups under Group Actions.
    • Choose Add a group under the Local Navigation section.
    • Enter your group details, and push 'Submit Group' to create your group.
    • Note: You must be a paid member to create a group.
  5. The group chat does not work for me

You may not have the latest version of Macromedia Flash, which is required for the chatroom. You can get it here.
