My mother is one person who I love unconditionally, no matter how far apart we are in the miles of our lives and our connection as mother/son. No, I do not have an Odepuis Complex with my mother, but can feel the pain that she has endured during her life in keeping her family together. Yet, as children grow, so do their individuality, and differences occur. These poems reflect my unconditional love towards my mother, and deep down, when I look into my mother's eyes, I do see the reflection of love.
-
And then you’ll see your rainbow
Where princes go -
so in my
perdition -
Illicit love affair -- her fall from grace;
As memory of pain comes from her groin. -
Her smiles sparkle radiant rays
Hidden beneath, the truth of abused days* -
With our obsession
to please ourselves -
Baby's
breath, Irish bells, -
She sits
hunched over her Singer -
This yearly traditional phone call,
as I listen to your Scottish, -
To walk a million miles
Just to see her smile -
Miniature weeping willow
sitting all alone. -
Your angelic voice recites in the depths of my mind
Sitting at an outside café -
a virus escapes inside me
poisoning my mind
