FAVORITE QUOTES

Just as the highest and the lowest notes are equally inaudible, so perhaps, is the greatest sense and the greatest nonsense equally unintelligible.
Allan Watts

Mindfulness is the aware, balanced acceptance of the present experience.
It isn't more complicated that that.
It is opening to or receiving the present moment, pleasant or unpleasant, just as it is,
without either clinging to it or rejecting it.
Sylvia Boorstein

BUDDHIST QUOTES

You only lose what you cling to.

What we think, we become.

The secret of happiness lies
in the mind's release from worldly ties.

Eckhart Tolle

Greatness is a favorite fantasy of the ego.

Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution for your consciousness. How do you know this is the experience you need? Because this is the experience you are having at this moment.

Words, no matter they are vocalized and made into sounds or remain unspoken as thoughts, can cast an almost hypnotic spell on you. You easily lose yourself in them, become hypnotized into implicitly believing that when you have attached a word to something, you know what it is. The fact is, you don't know what it is. You have only covered up the mystery with a label.

I'm not here to be a great poet or writer, nor will I ever aspire to be. What I have rediscovered is therapy. Like so many others, I have been "taught" over my lifetime to just get back up, no matter how wounded or injured. What I didn't realize is that each time I pulled myself up from the ground and decided to move forward, or just decided to move, period, by necessity, I strengthened a false sense of who I was. I was living on courage, living on strength, and on determination that wasn't mine. These qualities were mostly demanded, borrowed, or stolen.

Reality insists on being known. It won't lay dormant forever, and it seems to rear it's ugly head at the most fragile of times. Writing has helped me to understand and accept a lifetime of my reality; that I am not as strong as I thought I was, and that maybe this strength isn't needed now as much as it once was. My hope is that through writing, I will come to understand, to really know, that I can let my guard down a little, and be okay.
