I do not resemble your other lovers, my lady
should another give you a cloud
I give you rain
Should he give you a lantern, I
will give you the moon
Should he give you a branch
I will give you the trees
And if another gives you a ship
I shall give you the journey.

This man was amazing! This is how words should be put together. A man after my own heart! -

Typical Shami (Damascian)
From guest Noura (contact)
In general, Arabs compete with eachother for honor. Whether its receiving guests at home or competing to simply show-off. With that said, in this poem Nizar is basically competing to win over a potential lover. Therefore, he would go out over a limb for this person just so he can be accepted into her heart--alone. -

Beauty of expression
The poem has a very light mood. To provide a proof of love to someone is a real tedious job. Qabbani knows the art of playing with words. -
Sweet
The words could not been spoken better.
We seems to like to compare lovers but its an improper aspect to do so. As finger prints are different, so are people and this Poet express that very well. -
i personally love nizars work and i admire it. lovely

Wow... this guy promises a lot. Certainly incredibly romantic (especially the last two lines)... although after reading this and another poem of his I'm certainly getting the idea that this guy was full of himself. Could be wrong, I've been that way before.
