In Dreams of Peace - Sonnet (collaboration)

Missing image
In dreams of peace I feel your beating heart.

It speaks to me of wonders that I'd know:

Thereat the path as well the written chart,

By which to gauge the ways the rivers flow.

I wander far and wide in hopes I’ll find

The answers sought inside my very soul:

It's never meet to merely venture blind,

Perchance you'd seek that picture, good and whole.

Unveiled the view to eyes that shine so bright –

Addressed at length the verities that are –

The mind that's closed is shutting out the light;

The open mind is reaching for the star.

In dreams of peace the universe expands,

As Soul is known for making such demands.

Thoreau47 is no longer on the site; it was his wondrous writing skills that honed this beautiful sonnet...he revised the thoughts to enhance the proper iambic pentameter...meter is NOT a strong suit of mine...Thank you, my Friend, for an exceptional experience...

    i like the old feel of this piece, and it is done without being tempted to use thee and thou etc spill ink and twist me into the crazy shape of love...

    Thank you, Scribe...This one was mostly the talents of Thoreau47 showing though...I contributed very little, really...ideas, mostly...he polished the meter & made it shine...He's very good...He just emailed me his 4,000th sonnet...sighhh...Amazing stuff to witness...He sent me one of his books not long ago...Very impressive... brilliance

    this was beautiful Wanda...take a little bit of credit! SHEESH!!!!
    the rhythm was all too nice....i've read many sonnets on here by authors that actually write a lot of 'em...and the pentameter isnt that da DA, da DA, da DA its just 10 syllables...but this...this is beautiful...
    meter is not a strong suit of mine either...but it was definitely appealing to read

    Well my dear friend, I read this aloud to you, and you know my favorite part already:

    *Unveiled the view to eyes that shine so bright –

    Addressed at length the verities that are –

    The mind that's closed is shutting out the light;

    The open mind is reaching for the star.
    Wanda, the two of you did a fantastic job with both of these, some of the best sonnets I have read. I love them! All the best sweetie Love ya, Annie

    No, no, Nic...I cannot write sonnets!!! I've only written one in my entire Life, my Friend...& the meter in it is wrong...This sonnet came about only because of Thoreau47's incredibly gifted writing...He was kind ~ & patient ~ enough to have allowed me to take part in it...he took my unmetered ideas (the few I had; I was a bit awestruck by the endeavour) & wrote this lovely piece...I was merely present for the Creation...I declined his offer to post it myself, initially...then thought about it & decided to go ahead, only because I have a preferred membership & he does not...I felt such a lovely portrait deserved the proper framing in which to showcase its inherent Beauty, my Friend...I deserve no Honour for this effort; I was only there, watching in dumbstruck admiration...He made it seem so easy to do!!! I shall practice & attempt, one day, to post one of my own...Until then, the Memory of this Grand Excursion shall have to suffice...& it does...Thanks for such a lovely comment, my Sister...but it is not mine to claim...Love you, Nic... Thank you, Helen...but as I said before, I cannot take any credit for this creation; it is his skill that brought it to fruition...I appreciate your commenting again...I believe this sonnet deserves accolades...of which none are mine...Love you, my Friend... Wanda

    Yes, as Helen have said, BRAVO to this collaboration. Wow, you can rhyme and write sonnets as well, Wanda??? But why am I surprised at that...you are such a gifted poet!! I think you must feel very satisfied with having experienced rhythm, meter and rhyme, Wanda - lol, I can hardly spell those things ! I see that you've used a 10 syllable count for each line and I know from writing a few cinquains and a rondelet here and there, that it is very difficult to stick to that syllable count and still come up with a poem as beautiful and flowing as this one. Beautiful poetry - I hope to see more of these from you, my friend!!
