Snow Melting To Spring

Snow is falling
Covering the blackness
Of my dying soul
With the pureness of white.

Soon it will be spring
Perhaps then the dead
Beneath the earth will rise.
Maybe this sinner can begin anew.

The days are cold and bitter.
The nights are long and lonely.
The grass has withered and gone.
The trees are empty and dormant.

Snow is falling
Blanketing the dead,
But soon it will be spring.
Perhaps the dead will rise.

Author notes

It's March and snow IS falling in Chicago. I'm watching it fall outside my window as I type.

Lots of double meaning in this piece. It's mostly a spiritual, emotional piece not a poem about nature.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~flesh melting into soil, and the souls of the fallen in a war without true cause ascend to the heavens if they are welcome there, to claim the glory that never tarnishes....Artis
    I have to thank you for my return to writing. I've composed 5 for you (or at least inspired by you) now. You are currently my biggest muse.
    Oh sweetie
    This is a beautiful poem
    Were suppose to get 2 inches of snow Sat told you we had not had our big one yet
    I love the metaphors you used in this poem
    And I am so glad your back to writing I have missed your poems
    Me thinks your muse has came back my friend
    Spring is indeed the time for re birth
    I have always thought that, when the dying once again becomes alive with the just the tiniest hint of green, and then comes the wonderful colors of summer
    Wonderful, beautiful & spiritual
    Love it
    Hugs n love to you too
    A great poem that deserves a dramatic pen and ink drawing with a splash of color.
    Most spiritual indeed! And incredibly well written at that. I love the comparisons with the dead--brilliant...and the ending simply couldn't be more perfect. Very well done! Thanks so much for sharing
