Oh Happy Day~~ Fuck Me, I Hope Not

I hear Mavis Staples sing gospel
to me

Just to me
She makes the hairs on my neck
stand up

(everybody stand up and sing, hallelujah)

When she shares her angelic-low-down husky voice
I want to weep
Weep
(pass me the kleenex)

Slowly, softly to myself

Thankfully I'm too fucked to care
(always there)
but then the hairs fondle me
Making me shiver

She washes over me
Oh,Happy Day
(oh, happy fuck-me-still day)

Trouble is, it wasn't
I struggled to do my job
with all my heart
(it's only a job, not a vocation, is it?)

I feel used and abused at times
pressure-dropped and fucked
Just in case I forget
it tattoos itself to my brain

Reminding me

That above all I am
only

Human

Not a miracle worker

For the love or the money. Whenever something becomes work it attaches itself to a stigma...a rutt, no matter the job.

I've sure you have worked miracles, we never know when something insignificant to us means everything to someone else.

Umm yes it is a vocation. You are a nurse, not a hat check girl. hehehe. Mavis Staples has a voice that brings tears to the eyes. Like this one Chilly but I'm sure your patients think you are a miracle worker. Eccellent

Yeah, I definitely dig this poem. Why is it that all the good poets are on today? Who knows. But in any sense, I'm not used to approving so many people's work. Yours is head and tails above others too. Hence the applause.

    Very good write.

It is good that you have expressed yourself freely. The expression of ideas and beliefs are to individual right of entitlement. One's personal experience in life are ought to be said freely which I believe have sufficient significant merit for attention and concern not being misunderstood beyond their specific scope.
