Jesus Loves Me - The simple, profound truth

"Jesus loves me! This I know,
For the Bible tells me so;"

I am loved and I need nothing more.
I am assured His love will endure always
though my love is frail, fickle and poor
I am not who I was before I met Him
though I return to my former ways.

"Little ones to Him belong;
They are weak, but He is strong."

I am a child taking my Savior's hand.
I am secure in His strength on which I depend
though I am small, weak and cannot stand
I am content in His purpose
tough I cannot fully see its end.

"Jesus loves me! He who died
Heaven's gate to open wide!"

I am alive because my Savior died.
I am not yet at my final home
though here on earth I must abide.
I am promised paradise forever to roam
though I suffer here for a little while.

"He will wash away my sin,
Let His little child come in."

I am free from my sin and debt.
I am not a sinner; I am a saint in His eyes
though I still sin to my regret.
I am a child welcomed with open arms wide
though I deserve to be abandoned forever.

"Yes, Jesus loves me
Yes, Jesus love me
Yes, Jesus love me
The Bible tells me so."

He loves me! That's all I need to know!
Into His loving arms I shall always go!

Author notes

I volunteer to help kindergarten kids who's families are experiencing marital break down. We often sing this simple song and I will tell them THIS is the most important thing they will ever learn. I'm currently reading a book about this simple but profound truth - Jesus loves me.

Original poem "Jesus Loves Me" was written by Anna B. Warner in 1860

A beautiful poem inspired by an age old children's song I remeber singing as a child And playing on my violin! I reminds me of Jesus unfailing love. I see you love children and that makes me smile becasue I do too. I am currently at college (in England)studying child care amd enjoying every minute of it. Children are so precious and what better to do than to give them the hope of Jesus in their lives.

sometimes we overcomplicate the simple profound truth.
I don't think we mean to, but we do it by letting dogma get in the way.

Jesus loves me, this I know...such a simple childhood song.
the words and melody dance in my mind. its one of those tunes
that gets stuck there and wont go away.

interesting write. I find your author's comments even more profound
than the poem itself. I admire your witness.

. why is life seen as suffering? if I was the big cheese and had died so you could live I'd be pretty pissed off if you werent making the most of the life you have, well, maybe not pissed off but definately a little cross.

I agree and we try to teach them that too - that Mom and Dad still love them.

i would think the most imortant thing they will ever learn is that their moms and dads love them even through marital breakdown and stress. it's how kids learn unconditional love to pass to their children. I realize Jesus' is the message of unconditional love, but how can a child relate to Jesus as the provider of such unconditional love when their very worlds are
falling apart? they need to know that love for them is only a mom or dad hug away...in my mind anyway.

i remember this little bible song in sunday school too...i never realized it goes back to 1860 though...thanks for the information, and love the kids.
