A mother's Sorrow

He slams the door and she cries
Being young he just doesn’t see
She isn’t being nasty
Just watching out for what might be
A tear falls down her face

He yells at her and cuts with words
She is the reason he is feeling bad
But her love for him is true
She thinks of the fights they’ve had
A sob emits from her throat

She tells her that it isn’t fair
Her chores are way too much
Just trying to teach her
And give her a mother’s touch
She sighs with pain

She is poor and trying to make a life
But issues get her down
Trying to adapt her children
To the new life that she’s found
Her heart breaks

A mother and a father in one
Not an easy life to live
Children seem to take
Every ounce she has to give
She is so tired

Her pain is real as her tears flow free
Her pain shows in her eyes
Being a single parent is hard
Fights always end with her silent cries
This is a mother’s sorrow

    So Heartfelt

This touchs on every mother. The pain we have felt in times of trouble of trying to guide them in their times of need and the helpless felling when they arent listening ..i so can relate here.

Wow, Excellent and I mean EXCELLENT work! I love the perspective and the expression in this poem. You have taken a simple concept and made it into something beautiful, and creative. It teaches a lesson as well. You conveyed a lot of emotion to the reader, and that takes a lot of talent. Great work!

This is a really sad and touching poem. Sometimes we see how our children act and forget they don't know we are trying our best. I was a single dad for 12 years and trying to filla role of both mum and da, was heart breaking at times. just like the piece you've just writen. nice work.

I was raised by a single mother, and I never appreciated the sacrifices till I was a mother too..
Your children will come back to you eventually. All we can do is give them wings, and try not to shoot them as they fly out the door!

Well written and heartfelt, every mom knows the sorrow, some more than others.

This is so true and painful to read about once you've lived it.
But it helps to know others experience the same things. I like
this poem and the way it was written. Shancy.

    Aww this made me cry
It is very sad, parents going through this on their own, but they do wonders and sometimes it's the children that help keep them going.
    Good luck in the contest

Darling Mia, this is heartwrenching as I know what you went through, I'm glad you got out of that situation. You have wonderful children who love you. This poem is certainly self explainatory. Beautifully written my sweet niece.
