We stood a moment lost in a strange world.
Death had come to take from us yet again.
Depravity exacted a high cost.
We are not immortal gods but mere men.
Eternity set on our hearts seemed lost.
Memories attacked us violently.
Friends and family gathered all around.
Many tears and questions flowed silently.
Are we but dust to return to the ground?
Are we souls who dance in eternity?
Is faith a gift or a myth we cling to?
Can there be any real certainty?
A seedling dies to bring forth life anew.
A lovely flower grows from that which died.
So the sun descended into the night
For eternity's gates to open wide.
Those who trust in his gracious gift of light
Have hope when death and darkness try to fright.

Written well indeed.
You know this is a really good piece that you have written here and I think that it will help others to read it too. I have long said that something has to die in order to live. -
Beautifully written - profound and soulful. Gets the reader thinking about the meaning of life and what's really important.
