~ Sail Away

Hues of purple red evening glow in pride
Another level ends in this gloomy game
Night is prancing ready for the final ride
As I hear the night silently calling my name..

A light hits the gloom on the lonely grave
Cold whispers fall on the autumn leaves
Freezing night cloaks the dying slave
Some wanderers rejoice, yet some grieve..

I stand alone and watch the year die
Lost in the memories of all I have seen
Winter wind dances on the wings of night
Upon the renewed memories ever green..

Sighing silently as night grows colder
Feeling lonely yet ready for another day
A hundred days have made me older
And now I feel ready, ready to sail away..

I've watched my year perish before me...long before its official end. I think that to sail away, one must be able to release all attachments that might've bound them to that frame of time. It can be difficult if one has experienced any major changes in life, such as graduation, moving, natural disasters or the loss of loved ones. I know, last year was quite dismal for many of us. This doesn't mean, however, that this year will be more of the same. Something's got to give.

And I believe you will be among those who will find a source of real happiness this year. That, or you will achieve detachment, and nothing--neither good nor bad--will matter.

Smile, dear one. Everything will be all right--as you insinuate in this poem.

    Many blessings,

    Raven Aurora ("Mama")

    Beautiful

You have such a talent for creating the mood of your poems. I'm trying to pinpoint exactly what it is ... your description of the colors, your description of your surroundings, your observation of nature through the prism of honest emotion ... perhaps it is not just one thing. You are so talented as a poet, and the pictures you paint are both beautiful, and when you so decide, they can be so sad, forlorn, ... Lonely. When I read works such as this, I can see that as a perfect monniker for you.

As always, my friend, your poetry is a beautiful as you.
