Sorrow bleeds pale ~
the ravaging beast awaits
dreams lost in the dust
of conscience.
Savagely,
we offer only weak empathy
& weep tears
she can no longer cry,
parched beyond repair.
We preach our sermons
& eat our meals
as Armageddon's wings embrace
our apathy.
Glassy~eyed
with Knowledge,
he approaches Innocence
from behind,
in preparation
for the heinous feasting.
Horrified angels
watch our
descent
into the depraved lunacy
of devastation.

Such a sorry legacy
we carve in ignorance
so little for life
and so much for destruction,
as every act of lost responce
is what we give to bless of children.

Guess ya figured it out, huh???
Thank you so much, Sweetie.

Wow... That was excellent!! The descriptiveness and the emotion present here is overwhelming! I loved every word but my faveorite lines were:
"We preach our sermons
& eat our meals
as Armageddon's wings embrace
our apathy." - These things we do are so ordinary and every day they seem laughable when but into perspective with the rest of the poem! Good luck in the contest! -
Thank you for hosting & for your kind comments, drowningintheembers...I'm pleased you enjoyed it...Be well, Poet...

This is an amazing piece! I really enjoied reading it. I think my favorite part was "We preach our sermons & eat our meals as Armageddon's wings embrace our apathy." Nice job!

Thank you for your compassion & wisdom, Niko...we must not allow helplessness to defeat what should never be, to begin with...If each of us only changes one part of the world we inhabit, the entire world would then change...Be well, Poet...

Apocalyptic. What word of praise for the poem can there be to say, what words can we have that do not make us feel helpless. But we are not helpless if we only Shout 'NO, this must not be permitted ' with whatever we have.

This was Beautiful hatrid... Good job

To have you as my auntie Baroness Pixie is a blessing that exceeds words. I want to grow up bigger to be articulate like you and I pray I keep my heart and that it grows into yours which you now have. Loving the world one page at a time. Ciao.

Wanda, this is a magnificent piece of work. Your words have such power and this subject is so tragic and you described and showed it so well. You are a prolific poet and I raise my hat to you and I thank you for your contribution to this contest. It is good to know so many in the world see and hear the voiceless tears.
-
Wow. I don't have any words, except to say that my heart is truly broken over both the picture, the story, and your words. As Nicolette said, you do have words though. And it's a damn good thing, because people like me are simply reduced to wordless, tearful paralysis, and we need people like you who are still able to speak.
Thank you for sharing this.
Love and light,

WOW! This poe takes my breath away. I love this piece. It is dark, angelic, and shadowed with desire. The photo is fantastic. Your poem strikes me with raw truth, Armageddon's wing embraces us, is amazing. Groovy.
Live on and live again.

I saw the picture too and I have no words...But you have the words, Vlindertjie that touch and make themselves sit in the heart. Wonderful poetry...so beautiful in its utter sadness; words that make one stop and think about what this world has become - seeing things like that indeed grips at the heart. This is a magnificent poem and it shows once again how you can touch, and touch so deeply, my friend. My own sorrow pales when one see suffering like that... Much love to you - this one is a winner!
