Children need to know
What is right
What is wrong
Which way to go
Children need absolutes
What is true
What is false
Guidance for their pursuits
Tell them biblical stories
Teach them by example
Give them real heroes
Give them moral inventories
Throughout the ordinary day
Use teachable moments
Reference the true foundation
Show them the right way
Give children the tools they need
Then children will be equipped
To venture into the evil world
And not be deceived
Author notes
One gift we must (and are commanded) to give our children is a firm foundation in the word of truth.

Amen. When my daughter gets angry with me over something I think the Lord wouldn't want her to do or go, I tell her; I have to answer to God for you until you are accountable.....so I have to do what I think He wants" She most the times accepts it, other times she'll say "I am accountable"
Very nicely done. Thank you for sharing.

Good luck in contest.
I agree with you on this and basically I put mine in a different way because too many time parents do use excuses instead of being an example. Wise words indeed and I think that you pretty much nailed down what the scripture says. -
I wholeheartedly agree with all you have said in this poem. We are doing children a great wrong if we do not teach them right and wrong, and the future society suffers as a result.

I like the way you wrote this! Indeed, teaching our children about Jesus, God and the Bible is a heritage to be passed down. It is our job as parents to teach them it's not the responisbility of the church, the school or any one else, it's OUR job as parents. I think you explained the scripture from the contest very well! God bless you! ~Melissa

Oh, Really well spoken and so true. We are held to the upmost in the eyes of our Lord and we must all bring the teaching to our children and shout it upon our roofs and dwellings so that everyone knows we are faithful to thy presence in the Lord.Loved your poem

Fantastic
This is fantastic! And, somewhere along the line our children will let us know that we did the right thing. Just recently, my 42yo daughter, who is a caregiver in Oregon, also was my caregiver during a recent brain aneurysm surgery. She was telling me how much she loved her new job in Oregon: "I love it, Mom. I told Carol the other day that it was just like being at my Mom's. . . Praise the Lord this and Praise the Lord that or scriptures being quoted for whatever needed."
I can't think of a better compliment my daughter could have paid to me. Best wishes in the contest!

Wonderful!! So many do not realize how important it is to show children the right ways! They are the future.
This poem flows very nicely, I like the rhyme scheme.
-Give children the tools they need-
Yes, like morals and values, not weapons and fear and hate...
Good job!
