Little girls

Celebrities
the face of tomorrow
the trend center
of all things good and evil.

Look at the little girls
only seven or eight
with makeup on their not-so-innocent faces
and their little bodies
shoved into the latest trends.

They look like mini replacas
of movie stars
at an age
when i was safely playing at home
with my dolls and toys
but now those little girls
have become the toys.

Dress them up
in their parents clothes.
Fashion dresses us
in ways we don't know.
One day those little girls
will be all grown up
paying millions
to reshape their nose
because thats what so-and-so did.

Deep down
we're all just little girls
too scared to be our own person
so we all follow the crowd.

When women got respect from men
their self respect seems to have gone down
so we no longer care
about what men think of us
or so we say.

Inside each of us craves
recognition from each other
as respected human beings.
But makeup isn't going to get us that
self worth and self respect are.
