Holiday
a break between exams
what feels like an endless weekend
with nothing to do
no rules or boundries.
Stay out all night
and sleep all day
like cats and owls.
No one to say
"no chewing gum"
or "do your homework".
You don't even have to come home.
Go away with friends
go to London for a day
or Brighton
or Cornwall.
Learn to surf
or horseride
or just party all the time.
But that's as far as it goes.
Before school's back again.
Nothing left to do
but fantizise about your next jolt of freedom.
"I'm going to go to Italy
when i've finished school.
Travel the world
and do what i like
nothing to stop me at all."
That's what we'd like to think.
But the truth is
nothing's ever that simple.
When you've finished school
there's university to look forward to
and then it's up to you
to get a good job
a family
a house
a life.
So goodbye dreams
and hello reality
where the school life never quite ends.

Great
I really liked this poem like your childhood years where you think "when you grow up you wanna be a space man!"Then you sweep them into reality with it all...Really Great Poem!(I don't say that a lot becuase I like poems that rhyme.)
