The eyes of a lost child.

The eyes of a lost child.
So helpless and abandoned.
Wonders only fade to fears,
In the eyes of a lost child.
Drug addicted mothers,
Run away fathers,
All have sent this child.
To a place that is uncertain.
This child so numb from pain.
An aged soul stuck,
Inside a child; only three.
So dark it was,
Inside this child we see.

The sight so painful,
The child looks through,
A grown woman for help.
The soul inside shines so bright,
The hands of this child hold so tight.
Never letting go again,
Of a woman who took her in.
When the streets were home,
At the age of nine,
Is when she found a woman,
Filled so warm and kind.
