Your smile has faded and your eyes are so dim
You paint on a mask that can't fool anyone
Don't shut us out
Don't turn off the lights and close the door like you did before
I swear I won't forget the way you looked when I first saw you
Your face full of joy,
No tears in your eyes,
Your arms were still virgin to the pain of the knife
Please let's turn time and remember again way back when you cared for yourself, and everyone else
You tried in life, and won all the races
Wouldn't accept second or last places
You had a choice to fall out or rise up
And you let yourself go
I promise I won't forget the way you smiled
When I first saw you there
The way you carried yourself
I'll help you get help
Come with me, and look in a mirror
And see the frail girl I love, full of fear
Clutching a beer, you don't want to care
It's amazing how different you are from when I first saw you there
