Three in the Morning

It's three in the morning
woke myself to
coughing,
spluttering -
abuse at the neon
clock ticking ,so slowly
feverish fragments of time.

One-eyed stumble
downstairs-
flick on the kettle
slice one lemon
squeeze half into large mug
two teaspoons of runny honey.

Shot of the irish nectar, hot water and stir-
Grandma's cure-all!
sit at the desk, staring at the screen
words puddle out-
eyes bleary and rasping throat
soothed by balm
bedtime soon, night night.

Author notes

blerggghhhh.... I hate being ill...   off to bed again soon..

How about this for a cold remedy, take a bowl of tomato soup, fry up and egg and float on top of the soup and serve with a pork pie.

    Good for what ails you.

    Hot toddy rides again!

It may not cure but it makes suffering a good deal more tolerable.

Get well soon ... or should I say, "physician, heal thyself!"

this concoction makes me want to pretend to be ill cough-cough-sniff-sniff I do detest all things available at the droguerie for the grippe but those home-remedies are indeed a comforting and most of the time helpful as well. And if they don't help you are too giddy to care . But I do wish you to be better very soon, and sending healing z n your way, as well as best wishes in the contest.
