The car is parked,
The owner gets out,
The black cat sits and watches
Until the man goes away.
Holding his umbrella up on his head
Not getting wet from such a rainy day.
Out it goes from the bushes
And under the car it goes;
Still warm and soothed
Compared to the heavy rain outside;
Still safe and protected
From the rainy day that strives to reach him.
Though as the cat slept soundly,
Hours went by;
The engine got cold
The water slid close
The cat froze and shivered
As it started to walk slowly outside.
Suddenly a great rumbling sound
Is heard above its head;
Scared and confused
The cat darts out
Stands in the rain....
The stray shabby cat,
Stares at the car....
With sad yellow eyes,
Letting out a painful whine
As the car trundles away....
