Wanderlust
leaving again
vaya con dios, my friends
interstates and turnpikes
back-ways, and motor-pools
the road is my mistress
my confidant, and friend
she leads me to bondage
only to free me once again
the lessons she slowly teaches
i patiently learn
when still, i yearn for her touch
enraptured by her musical, whimsical call
she loves me, i know
never ceasing is her romance
her desire to please
she is a jealous lover
needing to be wanted
longing to be loved
but yielding to my needs
when it best suits her own
i have been here long enough
and i have an old flame to rekindle
where will the flame take me
hello, my love, are you ready
yes of course i am
letting go of it all
vaya con dios, my friends

Cool, great write! Well structured with an interesting theme.
'interstates and turnpikes
back-ways, and motor-pools
the road is my mistress'
This is my favourite part, I like how it sounds.
I wouldn't change anything, but you might go on to say how your life is changed for good or bad perhaps.

very interesting. I like your idea on the road trip. Sounds very fun and action seeking. I plan to take a road trip to see my older sister soon.
Good luck

Ah, yes, I do see the similarity between the two poems. Thank you for telling me about this.
the road is my mistress... I know the reality of this line all too well.

tis beautiful and like so many here true wanderlust often seems something unreachable unteachable many have it yet they never know it is as illusive as magic yet your siren of a road calls to many in their bones and so they as you as i are never trully happy alway restless never roaming as we aught reminds me of the hoboes and gypsies and vagabonds
