It is snowing with only four days until spring
The wind blows a chill through my bones
Darkened days promise to get lighter
Yet are veiled in the clouded skies.
Trees are still dead and empty
The promise of new life is not seen
The hope of spring seems far away
Snow is falling sideways in the wind
Death lies dormant beneath the soil
Waiting for coldness to thaw to warm
Though snow descends down to earth
Anticipation and trust try to dispel sadness
The cycle of seasons continue
Snow will fall and melt into spring
Darkness will dispel at increasing light
Life will resurrect from the grave
Author notes
Snow actually was falling as I started this piece, but the piece is not about snow. It is a metaphor with multiple meanings mostly personal; some spiritual.

How I love spring and the resurrection of life from the long, cold death of winter. This is a great piece and how fitting that I am looking out my window right now and it is snowing.
Keep on writing the great poetry. -
well written poetry done here a great show of talent love the line the trees are still dead and empty this is how i feel at times like this write alot keep up the awesome work and thanks for sharing this one....

I definitely got the metaphor even before reading the authors comment. This has much meaning if you read between the lines. Absolutely beautiful and definitely worth of an applause. Awesome write you have here....Keep penning fellow poet.

SPRING is better than WINTER anyday of the we
OH, How I long for The Spring,
To hear a Robin Red Breast SING!
To see leaves on the trees,
Wild flowers, birds, and bees,
OH, How i long for The Spring.
You know what they say about THE MONTH OF MARCH - In like a lion and out like a lamb - which I hope will be true this year (who knows with the crazy weather we have been having for the last few years?) since Spring is better than the cold, snow, and harsh wind of Winter and easier on our pockets too - with the cost of utilities constantly on the rise! I enjoyed you fine poem almost as much as I enjoy Spring whenever it arrives!
Love & Peace!
Earl.
My first applause of the day goes to you and my hopes and prayers that you don't have to shovel too much snow! -
Wow! that is amazing! It's nice to read really good poems that don't have to do with love, considering that is all I right about. I guess it is because I can relate to it. I loved this poem though. Nice work.

I like what you did with every stanza, presenting a not so cute of an image, not so warming...but hope is still there, even though spring seems so distant, ironically...only four days away.
This poem can also be interpreted in a diff way, like looking at one's life, how negative things are happening. Yet, hope di dnot die. very well done. nice word choice
"It is snowing with only four days until spring" it is not the strongest opening for this poem...maybe if it were shorter, like "it is snowing, but/though four days until/ 'till spring" (just my opinion)

Cool, I like it... but you should work on that ending a bit... I think it could be much better!

timely
Nice picture and words that really resonate with my mood today. It brightens up Saint Patty's day to know I am not alone. Did you take this pic in Manhatten or chicago? It is so pretty I would not mind it hanging on my wall, Winter weary as I am.

"The cycle of seasons continue
Snow will fall and melt into spring
Darkness will dispel at increasing light
Life will resurrect from the grave" I wish it would bloody hurry up!! brilliant write, especialy as we are all feeling the nip of the cold, I lived most my life in a sunny country and never understoon the seasons effects on the soul, but reading your peom captured those feelings wondefully!!! thank you, I thought it was absolutely brilliant
