"Among the Haida Indians of the Pacific Northwest, the verb
for 'making poetry' is the same as the verb 'to breathe'."
~ Tom Robbins, from the book, 'ANOTHER ROADSIDE ATTRACTION'
We breathe deeply of this solemn air,
knowing Life is precious
with intent ~
the wind lifts our hair in a gentle caress
as we softly sway in its lingering dance
of dreams...
A silken whisper
bears swift, sweet solace
to an aching Heart,
a subtle breeze that soothes the sorrowed Soul...
We inhale inspiration
& exhale imagination with jagged gasps,
furious fire erupting in our veins ~
we try to capture emotions with mere language
& feel bereft at the futility
of such grand gestures of bliss unveiled ~
yet, we must pursue
this Path of passionate excavation,
unarmed by our confused Innocence
& seeking Eternity's Grace...

That was beautiful. I love the quote and love the poem. It's true. A true poet needs to write almost as much as he needs to breathe. I loved this.
-
I like that concept of breathing and pottery sharing the same idealistic phase.Nicely emotive piece Wanda.~~~Suseann

Graceful.
There is always such a wonderful art beneath your work. Literally and figuratively. I think the grace you talk of seeking is found in your work. Yes, I believe that would best describe it. Graceful. Thats how this sounds, graceful, like a ballerina in words. -
I loved this peice! trying to my capture emotions with mere language is leaving me feeling the futility right now! wonderful contribution dear Poetess! I also like Tom Robbins!

this, dear poet..is the epitome of understanding put down by the pen of a poet. Youa re going to make judging this competition very difficult indeed. I already ahve three favorites and await new entries to push the bar as all of you ahve in this contest. I truly believe the entries are top quality poetry.

You are one of the most gifted and passionate excavationist that I know ... another beautiful airy masterpiece

Yes, this is definitely what we are and what we seek. Peace, harmony, love at the expense of endless, tiring hours of solitary questionning, is the path we must undertake to make sense of it all. And you depict it perfectly here, with an awesome conclusion:
"yet, we must pursue
this Path of passionate excavation,
unarmed by our confused Innocence
& seeking Eternity's Grace..."

Wanda, this is beautiful! Once again you and I are writing about air but for different reasons!
Or maybe not all that different.
You are one of the best writer's on this board because not only can you craft a poem but you always share the truth and love. Good luck in the contest.

Actually, Silvayne, that's a very astute observation...I was thinking of the Native Americans as they danced...I live in Oklahoma, so it's a natural sight to see around here...Thank you for your kind words...Be well, Poet...

Breathtaking
Breathtaking! No pun intended. Well, maybe a little, as all poets do... this poem made me visualize the Native Americans of the plains, dancing to their tribal songs with the wind whipping their costumes. I get strange imagery from unrelated things, though. Another superb write!
