For Who She Is

Missing image
She comes in late
But no one seems to mind
We understand and know
She has no concept of time

We simply love her for who she is

Her smile and laugher
Brighten the mood
Her touch warms hearts
Our souls are renewed

We simply love her for who she is

Her face is beautiful
Her personality a delight
But it’s her soul
That gives us light

We simply love her for who she is

We know her trials and troubles
We see her hurt and her pain
We feel her compassion
Washing over us like rain

We simply love her for who she is

She is enamored with Jesus
She trusts him completely
She passes his love on to us
Filling our hearts entirely

We simply love her for who she is

Author notes

I keep trying and failing to express how much I love and appreciate my friend. She is truly loved and appreciated by all who know her well. She is, without a doubt, the most Christ-like person I've ever known.

I appreciate the comment and suggestion. I really like it when someone tries to offer a helpful suggestion rather than just tell me they liked the poem. In this case, I do want to use the word "enamored." I often use this word to describe my friend's love for Jesus. She does have a crazy, passionate love for the savior. It does appear "foolish" though it is not. Anyone "in love" appears foolish to the outside observer. Peter appeared to do many foolish things after Jesus' resurrection (jumping in the water, counting fish etc.). He was "enamored."

    Loved it!

Oh- this was a wonderful way to word how you feel about her! If I were receiving this, I would feel more than special!

I do have one small critical point, but it's meant to help, because I made this same mistake in one of my own poems. A friend pointed out to me that "enamored" at it's root means "having a foolish desire for someone." I doubt your friend's desire for the Lord is foolish! You may want to find a different word for that.

Other than that, I LOVED it!

    Well done!

    excellent

Thank you for saying such beautiful things about your friend. It wouldn't surprise me if she is humble, too. I thank the Lord for both of you and being such an effective witness for Him. Praise the Lord!

This is a very life affirming write. I like the almost chant-like feel the repetion of the one line gives this.
