Teddy Bears

Teddy bears of golden brown…
will never see a kiddie frown
Their smiles, through sparkling chestnut eyes
Ensure children never cry

Soft and warm, and cuddly too
Teddy will always look after you
Keeping you safe, while you sleep at night
Trading dreams by pale moonlight

Cuddly and fluffy and cute and sweet
Teddy bear hugs are always a treat
He'll share your bed, so warm & snug
With snoozy woozy teddy bear hugs

And when you wake, in the morning sun
Your teddy bear's job, is still not done
He'll stay with you, all through the day
Making drab days bright and gay

For teddy bears are very smart
They know if sadness fills your heart
Beaming bright, with that huggable smile
making life seem all worthwhile

Worn or ragged, torn or lush
Threadbare ,tedbear, bald or plush
Your teddy is your 'bestest' friend
Always there, to the bitter end

Always there, for you to hold
When the world appears cold
Helping all good children through....
to times when their kids have one too

Clicked on return the favour and landed here...
I found myself getting all emotional for this one as well, from your poem and from Melissa's comments.
I cant imagine growing up being teddy bear -less, or maybe i can..i do hope she ended up getting a teddy bear of her very own? Life can be so very cruel and unfair to some.
Yes, i too grew up without one..but being as poor as we were - i probably would have eaten it.
I cuddled with a block of wood at night and then woke up the next morning to throw it into the wood stove.

Bravo to you on this one Bob, enjoyed this muchly - superb for kids and adults alike. Flowed very well dear heart and the rhyme was excellent.

    Brilliant , bloody Brilliant !!!

warm and wonderful write that takes me back to the joys and tender feelings I had with my Teddy Bear. I think they breed compassion and affection in children and so this poem helps to bring this basic human want into the light of day. Teddy Bears are far more important than we adults can percieve but we still have the basic feelings generated by them when we were young and innocent. The reading of this poem by children right to the age of an adult helps to reinforce such a strong and necessary emtion in us all.
Wonderful, loving poem that is worthy of the highest praise.

How lovely and so well written. I don't know of any child who doesn't love their Teddy. I still love Teddy bears, although I haven't got my original ones alas! My youngest daughter has kept her favourite "Max" a large soft fluffy bear who I struggled home on the bus with, one Christmas, long ago! This poem will evoke many happy memories I'm sure for Teddy lovers everywhere.

Lovely, lovely, this has a warm, secure feeling about it. I've been a lover of Teddies for many a year and remember well the security they seemed to give me as a child, tucked up in bed with me, I carried that through to my own son ( I still have his teddy bears too) I like the warmth in this.
