Virtue

Virtue by definition, beckons people to rise towards
It. Only those that can attain it can truly
Revel within its fairest of graces.
The practice of perfect virtue requires the
Underlying traits of gravity, generosity of soul, sincerity,
Earnestness, and kindness, all in perfect harmony.

Author notes

An acrostic poem I wrote based on this quote:

To be able under all circumstances to practice five things constitutes perfect virtue; these five things are gravity, generosity of soul, sincerity, earnestness and kindness.

Well, Sincerity is meaning what you say, its really the Feeling of being honest, whereas Earnestness would be the action of honesty, being honest in all that you do. I suppose it is possible to be Earnest, but not to be sincere. This is what I thought fit the quote. Confucious was either a very wise, very deep thinker, or was just a fool that stumbled upon many meaningful quote. I suspect the former.

Not that I disagree with Confucious, but aren't "earnestness" and "sincerity" the same? I think your poem has conveyed the meaning of the quote you have chosen. To that end, I think you succeeded.
