Wrongly condemned{Gold}

Wrongly condemned
To a shortened life
Convicted to a planet
Of hardship and strife

Only can consume
Just a small crumb
So weak and frail
Limbs now are numb

Muscles decline until
Completely wasted
Bitterness of indifference
Is all that is tasted

Nothing left to have
No food or drink
Into oblivion
They  all will sink

Starvation is the only
Emotion they can feel
Famine and poverty
Is all too real

Vulnerable bodies weak
With extreme hunger
The only thing known
Since they were younger

Look at the pain frozen
On their lifeless face
Look at annihilation
Of our human race

Each is a victim
With a story to tell
Not living a life
But existing in hell

Author notes

852 million people across the world are hungry, up from 842 million a year ago. Every day, more than 16,000 children die from hunger-related causes--one child every five seconds. In essence, hunger is the most extreme form of poverty, where individuals or families cannot afford to meet their most basic need for food. Most poor people who battle hunger deal with chronic undernourishment and vitamin or mineral deficiencies, which result in stunted growth, weakness and heightened susceptibility to illness. families that live in a poor country cannot grow enough food or earn enough money to buy food, there is nowhere to turn for help.

    Yes indeed for those
    children to starve is unfair
    When in this country
we have so much to share
    for we let so much
    surplus go to waste
    they would be happy
    for just some to taste

Thanks for the comments and applause

    Extremely Extreme

It is very sad that so many have to starve
Just the thought alone made me almost barf
No child should have to suffer such a pain
Life can be unfair, but this is just insane

    Great Work.

This was a really emotional poem. It hit a soft spot in my heart....one of those that rarely anything touches. So sad and touching. You did a really good job of this, and this poem overall was a good read. Keep up the good work and I'll keep reading. Best of luck in your poetic future. <3

I agree with you for so many people gurge in their money, those that are filthy rich and look down at others, because they dont have what they do.I lived poorly as a child, so I feel priveledged to have just a home, that's why I donated the money from my book sales to the place that allowed me to use they're computers for free. I like your poem for it expresses what so many refuse to believe.Brandy3

that is so deep. I wish I could find a way to cure hunger and everything...its so sad seeing that. You should send this to the government or something...it may open their eyes, and if not it was worth a shot...or you can try to get this published...all i know is this is a really great poem...

this was great, there is so much wrong with the world for instance when i was reading it instantly thought of hotel rwanda it has nothing to do with starvation maybe starvation of the minds but anyways we could be doing so much for the world we have the power as the country of america i mean just look at the money we spend on a war on drugs something that i know could end in one push of a button but no we would rather spend spend i mean we could easily go to columbia or wherever and burn the hell out of every crop no we don't we go to Iraq though anyways i loved the message conveyed take it easy, joey

Thanks so much for your remarkable commentary. Everything you said is entirly true. These people should be living not barely existing. In the US alone thousans upon thousands pounds of food is wasted each day, why can't this be sent to these poverty stricken people for daily substinance, allowing them the right to live on this planet they are deserving of this right also.

    Dear friend,

Very, ermm..original of making up a poem with such a topic, and yet it is true with the facts of life strifing for a living. Either way, how can the world save billions of people, when we are in trouble of keep our living. (I mean some of us are poor as well.)It is true that we are lucky enough to be a country whereas we can have suitable meals and have something to dress ourselves, but we all humans sometimes fail to do something in our lives. We should blame the goverment's mislead and the way they spend their money on.

We all wish that this pain and the suffering of all people will come to the end, but we all know that we are hopeless and there is not a possiblity of us helping each individual, with us powerless to run this whole world!

Never the less I am very grateful to stop by and read this poem, as this will represent the poor and will bring this up to our minds that even though we think we are in poverty, in some countries they haven't got enough food, fluid or clothing to cover our bits by.

Thank you for this great write and hopefully I will come by once again and read more of your work!

    fo sho... ho bo

they say the death of one man is a tragedy. they death of 1000 is a statistic. and i really dont think people grasp exactly whats happening in some parts of the world, and our completely apathetic policies towards them. were actually fools not to help, if you look at the economics of it, they give us a shit ton of crops we use for value added products, if we could give them the better technology FREE OF CHARGE it would actually come compLETELY back to us, and the global prices of commodities would fall... and lord knows we love commercial products.... okay okay enough about the econ rant, now to your amazing poetry...

the last stanze is by far my favorite. there is enough going on in those short 17 words to make your head spin. youve outlined the difference between surviving (existing) and living. its true, rocks exist, dirt exists, but people should be LIVING. youve also made their strife real and brought right to our doorsteps where it cannot be ignored. as well as their humanity, they have stories, and they are being denied the most basic of all essentials, human dignity. and their current status: hell, where theres no time to think but be tortured and destroyed...
    its excellent

Its good that poems like this are being written - and such a shame that they have so little impact on the important people. I feel no need to criticise anything here, I dont think that is why you post it. I think it really captures the emotion well. we should never forget the plite of these people.

a shocking read and yet one that compels you to continue, as shoul dbe ,to the end.why .why why.........and yet we continue to waste so much.my god i want to pick those children up and ever so gently give them the love and attention they need but ashamed as i am to admit it,i do nothing. as most of you other readers do,am i afraid to leave my loving family my home ..the safety and security i have here?? yes i am so ashamed to say it but it is true yet shall i shake my head and shed a tear? yes ...butit is not enough,it never will be.

This is one of the greatest poems I've ever read in my life. Seriously. Of course, the form and the flow and the rhyme are good, the poem sounds awesome and it is great all in all. But what really gives it valor is the idea it presents. It is horrible and painful, I at least suffer for those families and those children, but right now I am unable to do much. However, one of my dreams is to actually do something, try to change this heartbreaking situation. You created a true work of art, a meaningful and strong poem, a cry out to the world, a call to the minds. The last stanza is the most powerful. I respect you so much right now, and I think that if this waking up and this understanding of the situation millions of people are going through every day of our comfortable lives, will reach everyone, something will be done. Something must be done!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful poem, thank you so much!

I am in absolute awe at this most powerful heartfelt poem. You are the first entrant in my contest and its going to take a lot to beat this one you wrote. I am all too aware of the poverty that exists in third world country. I come from a third world country myself and have seen first hand exactly what you describe in your comment and poem. I applaud you from the depths of my soul and good luck in my contest!!! You wrote this outstandingly.
