The day that you were born,
was such a beautiful one.
I knew that the rest of my life,
would be filled with loads of fun.
I've watched you as you've grown,
into a beautiful little girl.
I can't imagine a single day,
without you in my world.
You are only one year old,
and yet you are so bright.
You are what I live for,
my beautiful shining light.
I never thought a little girl,
could ever mean so much.
But I feel it every day,
with your sweet tender touch.
As I look into your eyes,
I see many years to come.
I just wanted to send these words to you,
with lots of love from your mom.
Author notes
This is the first piece of poetry that I have made public, so I figured that I would write aboutthe one thing that truly means th world to me, my daughter. I was looking at her picture and hearing her snore as she sleeps and these words just came to my head. I hope you like it.

Honey, this warmed my heart so. There is nothing so amazing nor so strong as a mother's love for her child. It is obsession, dream, answered prayer. This is just lovely. -

Sooooooo Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shannon, This was absolutely beautiful, it is so nice to see that you wrote something. It seems like ages ago that you commented on my poem for Eddie Guerrero. Your daughter is such a beautiful little girl and I was so happy when Kelly did the contest for her birthday. She was so adorable with the frosting on her face. I would love to see more work from you, this was really fantastic for your first piece of writing that you have done here. You warmed my heart and brought such a smile to my face with this. And yes tears too for the happiness and joy that you feel inside for your daughter. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful work with all of us and welcome to the world of writing on All Poetry. I hope you enjoy many happy hours on this site, I know how much I have.
Love and blessings for you my dear friend, today and always.
Joyce

Very beautifully written. The emotion of a mother's love really stands out within the lines of this poem. Your words are like liquid sunshine, very beautiful and bright, warm and loving. A very nice piece. Keep the ink flowing. Love ans hugs to you.

My apologies to both you and shannonMarie. I probably could've chosen a better way to say it. I just want to say again - shannonMarie, your work is beautiful. I hope that you take my advice as it is meant - to make your poetry even more powerful.

I just read your comment to this young lady. Her theme was very powerful and I saw no problem with her rhyming. I don't know if you read the author comments or not, however this was the first poem she has done. I think it is more than good for a first poem. I didn't even come close to this. You mention you were only being constructive. That is fine for someone who has been writing a little while or more than a first time anyway. You can really discourage someone like that. Just my opinion, we can't all be a shakespeare. Keep smiling.

P.S. No offense meant. -
this is beautiful, and being mama only gets better with time.through the terrible twos on into the teen years when they disown you, you'll still feel this way even when you want to wring their necks.our children inspire us without being aware that they do. this was refreshing.

Lovely
I have a child of my own and it still amazes me how much he's touched my life in even the smallest ways. Motherhood is a beautiful thing, enjoy it! -

Shannon, I just got the link for this and I am so glad I clicked on it. This is a loving tribute to your daughter. I did a birthday poem for that little one. I read both of your aunts poems and from what I see here the talent is in the family. I really enjoyed this so much. Words straight from your heart. Thank you for making me smile. You have my applause. Keep smiling.
