My lost steps trembled upon hollow ground
followed hints of a dirt path, here and there.
It snaked its way, through un-groomed graves;
ghostly, under moonlight's odious glow.
The Nighthawk's echoes, chilled death's silence
added quickness to my fumbling pace.
Prickling hairs crawled my yellow spine;
compliments of plantings 6 foot under air.
Night's crisp breath coldly blushed my neck
as I felt a shadow follow close behind
I froze mid step upon rippled fields;
reluctantly, I turned around.
Foreboding eyes void in remorse,
leered from behind graveish stone
it motioned in grim, beaconing gestures
impatient, it slithered in for closer views.
I wanted to run, I wanted to hide
my mind sent message to my legs "JUST MOVE!"
numbly they ignored my cowardly suggestions
melting, under weights of its hideous screams.
I suspect it was fear, or my only defense
for the next thing my fainting mind recalled
coming to stretched out, cross' a freshly dug grave
dressed, in its coffin fermented cloths.
I shiver when memory recants this tale
swore I'd never breath a word to a living soul
for in fact, I'm quite embarrassed to admit
one grim Halloween night lost in a graveyard,
I was pilfered by a 2" tall ghost.

OH that was very cute. I was a little thrown off at first, believe me. You ended it very nicely. Best of luck in the contest, and thank you so much for entering!
