I remember growing up
back when I was just a boy
the one thing that meant the
world to me my one childhood joy.
Never did we get allot for Christmas
maybe a toy car or two
none of that stuff really mattered
to me as long as I had you.
I watched my friends play with their
new toys smiles upon their faces
I sat in my room with you we dreamed
of magical make believe places.
I held you ever so close
mummy and daddy would argue and fight
having you close by my side
just seemed to make everything alright.
The years have passed we parted ways
I got older through the years
I will never forget the day we met
how you helped me overcome my fears.
You were always by my side when
I needed you, I knew you were always there
I thank you wherever you are
My good old teddy bear.

This was a wonderful poem!!!
It is almost as if a trick.
I thought it was about a girl but it happened to be your teddy bear!!
The years have passed we parted ways
I got older through the years
I will never forget the day we met
how you helped me overcome my fears.
You were always by my side when
I needed you, I knew you were always there
I thank you wherever you are
My good old teddy bear.

Brillant work
Aww, what a sweet poem James. It touches your heart and the little 'twist' at the end makes it just that more great.
Wonderful rhyming and the flowing is fantastic
Keep up your fabulous work.
Stay safe
Much love,
your daughter,
Amanda

a pleasure just a gem
James such a heartfelt write my friend
i have a tear happening here the images your words portray and the sadness of the emotion.
i had thoughts playing through my mind thinking just what was this good thing or person who you put your trust in and how lucky they and you were to have one another. Then that wonderful twist.
am all for a good twist in a poem. Penned it perfectly. if only all the teddy bears across time and the world could speak what interesting tales they could tell or what love they could send back to us today.

Oh, sweet! I was actually picturing siblings during the read, but confusion set in on that theory when I read "I will never forget the day we met." The last line made me say "aaaahhhh." - very nice, thanks for sharing!
I just removed a bit of comment I made before, new to this site and just reading suggestions on commenting, and realize there is a more appropriate place for what I have taken out (typo correction suggestions). Sorry about that - I will learn!

I had a stuffed rabbit, myself. But it's the same principle.
This is a very nice poem and it made me smile.

I really really love this poem. It just makes me want to smile. Great job! do you always write stuff like this?
-
exellent
Ya know, this is one of those pieces that is just makes me smile inside and out. I wasn't sure who you were talking about, but never would have thought it was a teddybear. I love it!! Thanks for the feel good giggle! -
Great
Suprise Suprise...totally unexpected bit at the end my friend! I was thinking of all the emotions to that person, (which ur poem has indeed brought along) bro's, sis' or parents but in da end the bear prevailed..I loved it.
Keep it up.Cheers -
I didnt guess it was a teddy. I enjoyed it. Ive still got my teddy (podge) and I couldnt part with him. But my childhood was a good one with no angry parents so he probably means something different to me than yours does
-
Surprise ending. Pretty cool. I like your imagery and word choices. Everyone needs someone and a teddy bear can be a kids best friend. Good work!
-
This is just so great! I love it. You've done well with this tribute to your 'old friend'... It seems we all had a friend (real or imaginary or toy) like this that helped us through tough times at one time or another, and we always look back with a smile to those memories. Super write!
Blessings,
Lacyte.
