A quick kiss on the cheek
As she runs out the door
Then she’s down the street
Around the corner store
After that I’ve lost sight
“Be careful” I mutter
I sigh and turn on the light
A moth near it flutters
I’ll wait until ten tonight
Then maybe I’ll get some sleep
And we will be alright
But for now there’s not a peep
So fast they grow
Fifteen in the blink of an eye
And time for them is slow
Please let it be I sigh
My baby’s grown
Soon she’ll be gone
And I’ll be alone….
With her sister
Author notes
I know the last line doesn't rhyme but I wanted to end on an up note. Her sister is seven years younger.

To the best of my knowledge
I am not a parent, though at my age; I may be a grand.
Good Luck!

I only have nieces and nephews but they too seem to grow so soon. They all complain about time going by so fast. Little do they know it only goes faster from there. -chuckles-
This is a cute poem. I love the last verse.

Time goes soooo fast for us and so slowwwww for them *sighs* One day we'll all be on the same track.

Thanks Greg

I am expecting my first child, and everyone reminds me to enjoy the moments because they pass so quickly. I know our goal as parents is to let our children fly free and strong, but I believe it is easier said than done. We love them and we'll miss them. It's as simple and complicated as that. Peace, Liz

I love the whole idea of freedom and the right to make mistakes and learn from them, but in today's world I'm afraid to do that. One mistake and that could be it. *sighs* I do want to be able to let go.
Anyways congrats on the little one. May you always remember that one day again you will have sleep again (although it's been three years since the last one and I still haven't had any sleep
)

I'm not a mother, but I kinda helped my own through her empty nest episode a while back when all three of my brothers left for their military terms within a couple months of each other, and my sister left for college. This is a sweet poem, and hopefully your daughter knows that she'll always be your baby.

I really think she does. But at this time in her life she doesn't want to be. I'll wait though. I'm patient.

Thanks for reading.

I am so sorry that it has taken me so long to respond to your wonderful comment. I usually spend my days over at SW, so I haven't been here in quite a while.
Wow another oregon girl? That's great. I'm in the southern half. What about you?

Hi! Thought I'd stop by and read some of your work. It's so sad to see them grow up and go their own way. Even harder to let them do it. But something you gotta do! I picture my son and I watching his sister go off to spend the night with someone (she's only 11) Wonderful write!

Hey- this is adorable. Very cute, and yes, when its time to be out on your own, you feel as if it would have never happened. Hows it going?
