What My Husband Does for Me

Missing image
what my husband does for me
allows my soul to fly free

smiles every time he sees my face
when I need it, let’s me have my space

gives me hugs throughout the day
shows his silly side when I want to play

strokes me softly as I drift off to sleep
comforts me when I weep

gives me pleasure morning, noon or night
whenever we feel the time is right

cooks me dinner, cleans up my mess
treats me like I’m a princess

calms me when I feel stressed out
loves me even when I pout

forgives me when I've been a butt
enjoys it when I'm being a nut!

shares my sorrows and my pain
when I feel down, picks me up again

calls me scrumdibbleyumptious, sexy or
beautiful, and truly shows his love for me

dancing to “Good Riddance” by Green Day, he says with tears in his eyes
“if anything every happens to me, I hope you had the time of your life.”

Absolutely, my dear, I do attest
I couldn’t ask for anything more, you are absolutely the BEST!

Author notes

Mission Impossible (per contest rules)

This is true!  I'm so damn lucky.

Took a while to find, though!  And, I really believe that people need to go through their own things to develop into the people they become in order to be ready to be together.  I don't think we would have been ready for each other before we met.

Also, I don't know of anyone, even people truly in love who respect each other, who don't have their moments.  If you live with someone and share so much, you will have moments.  The key is to get through those bad moments and leave them behind - DON'T HOLD ONTO THINGS!  Don't bring up things from the past, move on.  If you hold onto things, they will eventually build up and stomp you and your relationship into the ground.  So... yeah...

    LOVE

I never came and read this and I thought to myself how valentine's is coming up! My husband has been there for me and treats me as his equal, and can be very sweet. But when it comes to holidays or specail occasions he just doesnt have a clue...he thinks we shouldnt buy into stores advertisement..and I do agree to what he says "that all it is, is money making time for the stores." Anyways, WE just spend the day together, and always end up having fun. But sometimes I wish he would buy me a card or something, and I know selfish of me, right?
    love you, amanda

'Manda the Marvelous! Yeah, we don't usually buy each other anything, either. He treats me with respect and love every day and I would much prefer that over a shit-for-brains that buys me gifts. My ex, a couple years after we divorced, courted me again and sent me roses at work, etc, said he wouldn't stop, but after he had me, not one more rose. Bastard. So, I'm in heaven with someone who treats me great every day. He does bring me home plants when he digs them up in our landscaping business, though, which I love!

Enjoy what you have, for it's more than most people have. Cherish the fun and the good things he does to/for you every day.

I have that poopy attitude about the holidays, too. Used to be one of my favorites, guess I'm getting old and grumpy... haha! I always get things for everyone, but don't spend money like I used to, and enjoy getting small gifts that mean something, rather than expensive ones. I used to shop way too much, egads!

Got an interview in a bit, gotta go finish getting ready.

Glad you like the pic! I love it, too! One of my favorites, if not the favorite.

Thank you, thank you Yes, don't rush things! Enjoy life and don't be too anxious about finding the right guy, 'cause he'll show up when he's supposed to. I'm NOT saying don't date and such, 'cause you learn things from all of your experiences, and then when you know about yourself more you will be ready for your true love... aaaaaaaaawwwwwwwww...

Thanks, Tink! One of my favorites here (of mine)... The song part always brings tears to my eyes, just thinking about it, hearing the song...

I never used to let go of things, either, as that was the way of my last relationship. That is one of the most important gifts John has and has taught me and it does wonders for our relationship. I wish you and your love all the best.

Thanks, again, for reading and sharing!

Only I have trouble letting them go, I should take your advice and move on from them because I really do love him. This is a great poem, it is so very touching, sweet and cute at the same time. it sounds so much like me and my love. Great write. And love the picture as well ♥ Tink

Thank you! I hope that you are, too! We do have our bad times, but they don't last long and my husband is so damn good at letting go of things (it's kind of weird ) but it makes for a great relationship when the bad times are tossed aside and only the goodness remains. It's only weird because I wasn't used to that mentality, but I sure do love it! What a tremendous quality to have.

Thanks, again, for reading and commenting!

Wishing you and your fiancee all the best!

I've stumbled upon your name a few times in random contests or pages...but I'm glad I took the time to read this time. You have an amazing man, hold onto him forever.
And thank you for such an...eye-opening...piece. I know the person I have is special, and now you've made me appreciate him all the more.

Angel - I have noticed that, a LOT of sad poems! Not that it is bad, as people need to get out their thoughts/feelings, and that's how I got started, but am finding a lot of healing in writing some funny/goofy poems, and nice poems. My first contest is going on right now, asking for goofy/funny poems from a list of movie titles, to help promote the goofy/funny side of people here! I know everyone has a little bit of goofiness in them - surely, they must! Glad you enjoyed the poem! Kimberly G.

Thanks so much! I hope you do believe in true love, but just be patient and wait for you to grow and know yourself better, who you are, what you want/don't want, experience some of life, 'cause true love is doing the same thing right now on his own.

theslayer - I know, it makes me tear up every time I hear that song or think of that moment. Those are the moments we should all hold onto, and toss the bad ones aside ('cause we all have bad moments - even in true, sweet love!). He is so good at leaving things in the past, it's kinda weird! but wonderful!

I know, I was silly on purpose. Added the butt/nut line last night, 'cause it popped into my head, and it's crazy, but it's true! heehee...

    Sweet!

“if anything every happens to me, I hope you had the time of your life.”......... I got no words for you lady! You're as lucky as any girl wishes to be.. The love between the two of you is so so so sweet.. innocent.. almost like the love that ppl find in their teens.. so sweet and so innocent.. And scrumdibbleyumptious??? Haha! So sweet again! Awesome write really.. But some of the lines look silly bcoz you've tried rhyming them..its as if rhyming takes precedence over content.. but then.. it reflects more of your love..so silly and sweet.. so I think you've jus written The Masterpiece! Good luck to you in the contest.. You're the best!

Although I would miss him terribly if something happened, I feel so blessed to have experienced what I see as true love after so much stupidness (that's my nice way of saying it... heehee). We just had our 5-year anniversary and went to Jamaica... how relaxing! We haven't gone anywhere like that the whole 6-1/2 years we have been together, what a treat!

I wish everyone could experience the love he has shown me and the closeness that we share.

May the Love Fairy guide your way to a true love... heehee.
