Rhyme for Lovers (contest entry)

Lover's Rhyme

We try to soar in winds so strong ~
we try to find where we belong.
We seek a chance to swirl in dance ~
we peek at tales of sweet romance
& we sway with every song.

There is no one to blame
when Love speaks your name ~
we answer when we're called.
There is no rage
when we turn the page
& know why we're enthralled.

We weep at secrets that we keep ~
we try to sail over lover's leap
& land on the other side.
We smile at guile,
for it's not our style
& wonder why we've cried.

There really is no need to fear
the passage of another year ~
Time can be so immense.
If we do not choose,
then we may lose
these feelings so intense.

We know what's right,
so we stand & fight
& from the depths, we'll rise.
We'll take one last look,
then write our book,
creating memories with sighs...

Very lyrical and I found some truths imbedded in your rhymes...

Although it does say "collab", it wasn't really, in the usual sense...The contest has us teamed up; we're supposed to edit & change each other's pieces, then submit them...She had to write a free verse & I had to write a rhyme (the opposite of what we both normally write)...Neither of us thought the other's piece needed any changes...unfortunately for me... I'm pleased you enjoyed it, Yvonne...Be well, Poet... Wanda
