States and Territories

This feels like a war zone
where you claim your territory night after night
and I lie submissive without surrender beneath you.

There is bloodshed here -
the scars of old wounds break with eggshell fragility
their shards cutting to the marrow of  tranquility.

It feels like a battleground
where the clash of words hurts more than any injury
and the silences scream of death, not amnesty.

There is no flag of truce
and the battles rages daily without surcease
until annihilation is the only way to peace.

I’m so sick of this place
where victories are measured by hard heartedness
and immolation is the answer to loving.

Claim victory if you must
Inside I am Switzerland, neutral territory,
mountain hard - as cold as snow.

we all run into those times where chaos takes full reign within our lives and laughs while we have to deal with the consequences.
I just shake my head and laugh right along!
Keep penning on one stroke at a time!
