rising moon

zigzag
human made
designs
may turn reality
into the chaos
of fallen leaves

and yet
you have a
secret
[not the party color,
maybe just its
adopted happiness
or the sensation of
owning all of this day’s
seasons]

{shooting star and
whisper that
you can feel its presence
with your soul’s
thin fingers}

…that you may
only see
the summer-green leaves
in life’s eyes

because optical illusions
are just a magician’s means
of keeping people
inside the tunnel
of nightmares

and grass is supposed
to grow
like it is
today

in your
personality’s
skin

Author notes

For Jane, to wish her a happy birthday.
And just to specify, even though she's not into AP anymore...
