of an African Race.
To protect me from the sun
GOD darkened my face.
My ancestry is larger and wider
than all the desert sands.
My bloodline flows from David;
and my father… was Abraham.
My people roamed freely,
long before Amistad.
I have a blood covenant, with my Lord…
and I am one with my GOD.
So… if, from my presence,
you perceive a glow,
that's just the power within me,
that's making it so.
And if my confidence seems cocky
and arrogant…
well… you just don't understand.
See… I am the definition…
of a strong, black man.
My people created dynasties, long before,
the first European was born.
Their math produced pyramids which have endured
milleniums of sand storms.
Their science and study
produced charts of the stars,
which are still being used…
though they won't say they’re ours.
My people were stripped of their culture
and brought to this land,
with nothing but faith…
and the strength in their hands.
But they still endured!!
And with that kind of blood
coursing through me,
how could I be anything less…
than the strong man you see.
Yea… I know.
Right now, some of you
aren't liking me.
But then… you didn't like Jesus either,
so I'm in good company.
'Cause… see, His blood is the reason,
I can do the things I do.
It's his knowledge and wisdom,
that victoriously gets me through.
It's the power of his Spirit
which strengthens me;
and His promise says
I can be anything…
that he needs me to be.
Yea, I see you out there,
laughing and plotting,
and thinking of ways to bring me down.
But you know,
the more I read God's word,
even a love for you I've found.
So when you come to me
with all the corrupt rules
of society,
and tell me of all
the opportunities I've missed,
and all the political butts
I have to kiss to climb some corporate ladder…
there's something you really,
don't understand.
Through Christ, I hold my future
Within the praises of my hands,
for I am, the definition,
of a Strong Black Man!
