As mommies sing so soft and low
Their tired little babies go
Off to sleep where they will meet
The Sandman there on Dreamer's Street
Sparkling stardust lights the way
To dreamland where the fairies play
On clouds so soft and snowy white
They play throughout the star filled night
The little Sandman takes their hand
To lead them through this wonderland
Filled with joyous things to see
Drifting along so peacefully
As angels watch them as they sleep
Safe within their watchful keep
Their heads are filled with magic dreams
Of starry nights and moonlight beams
So mothers hold your babies tight
And rock them gently through the night
To where the Sandman waits to greet
The sleeping babes on Dreamer's Street

Awesome Poem
this is the first poem i ever read on AP,my girlfriend printed it and showed it to me.i joined AP that same day. I really enjoyed this poem and just found it the other day and thought that I would look you up and thank-you for being the reason that I was interested and joined. So it deserves an applaud better late than never. Check out some of my stuff and let me know what you think. I see from your author's page that you have alot of trophies . Rudolf

You are one natural talent. The flow was superb! And the poem itself was one of the sweetest, cutest I have ever read. This deserves to win some kind of prize, but I don't have any prize, so I'll just humbly applaud you like so many have before me.

So tell me, who is to save this faerie that drowns in the puddle of tears you've created?! Oh my, this just has to be the most beautiful thing I've ever read!! Do you have music to this? For I hear wind and strings (flutes&violins)playing softly in the distance. Good luck in the contest. I will surely bookmark this and print it. And make a melody on my guitar in hopes that I might one day sing this to my grandchildren. Should I be lucky to be blessed.

This is a very exquisite piece of work. How nicely done. I was once a baby, I can recall this very moment. Just kidding, don't remember much but the many times I've seen kids in their wonder sleeps, it often takes me to a place I once were in my younger years. This is an incredible piece of work. Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing. God bless you and take care. A pleasure to read

There is nothing more beautiful than a sleeping baby
I like this poem a lot, it captured the innocence and beauty of a child.

goo goo
wasnt that a cute little bundle of sweetness.yes it was....yes it was...surely something only a mother could love.that was a joke.my original intent was to say only a mother could write, but as i typed my mind working the way that it is want to do wouldnt let me pass on the easy laugh that it saw coming.but i digress, very much a soft cuddly wonderfull loving poem without sacrificing any of the joy of reading. -
Fantastic
I really admire your imagination.I also tried to compare a baby who is about to sleep with the setting sun,but yours is more grasping. -
beautiful so beautiful when they are sleeping...when they are dreaming or what ever... to day my spiritual God daughter Ellie gave me a pass of her baba and in the essence of shareing and to not offend her 14mo. soul i did take a swig and all i can say if she was my daughter she would not have anything that tasted like that strawberry crap i think it will be months till that taste gets out of my mouth and i do not think i will every eat another strawberry ever again great write keep doing well

What a wonderful write on this lullaby. The words just seem to flow and the meter is right on. The picture you added just adds to the already wonderful poem that you have penned.

I haven't read the comp, but this one must at least deserve an honorable mention. I am a dad, but I missed my kids, and I live with them!

This was soooo sweet. i loved it! Being a grandparent, I am a sucker for a poem like this.
Well done. -
good
you did an amazing job on this piece. the discriptive words you used really set the mood for a lullaby. put this to music, and you could have a hit song for infants, haha.
"Sparkling stardust lights the way
To dreamland where the fairies play
On clouds so soft and snowy white
They play throughout the star filled night"
this is probabaly my favorite stanza.
great job, and keep up the good work.

-
good
this is really cute, i like the simplicity, and the cute baby^^ -
I am very impressed with this lullabye...so many end up sounding forced or the words are redundant, but this one has a nice flow, is soothing, and it is well-worded. I have 3 boys to whom I would have loved to sing this song.
-
Thats a really calming poem, though i nearly cried, i don't know why. maybe because it is so gentle. I love babies, there so cute, unless there throwing up and screaming!! but when babies are asleep, or being cute and cuddly i love them!!!!!! I really adore your poem.
Keep penning,
Holly. -

-
*clap* beautiful...wonderful job as always sewasham! i adore your work!
-
Good simple honest rhyme works well for lullabies.
It seems to me that the poem changes its adress- to begin with describing the mothers- then speaks to them directly. While this could reflect a transition into dreaming, its not clear and leaves the poem feeling a little wonky.
In a way it's refreshing to read a lullaby that is not directed at a child needing sleep- but at the parent. The poem comforts the parents, letting them be at peace with releasing their children to dreaming.
The present tense of the first three stanzas is a little odd as well - incongruous. Singing a lullaby about a child already sleeping...
The last stanza doesn't entirely fit well...
It's possibly just the lack of puntuation meaning I'm not reading it right...
Better than I could ever do so far as rhyme and meter go
Well done! -
very beautiful, sweet, and lovely. I really enjoyed reading this. Such a clever idea for a poem. Keep up the great work
-
Remember taking pictures of my two when they were sleeping - the pictures, as is this one, are priceless. The poem flows so well and is easy to read and understand. Enjoyed this and can hear it being sung to some wee babe.

Good luck in the contest, I hope you win beca
I'm really fussy about this but perhaps you should put full stops on the end of your verses because that completes a sentence or a verse of your poem, if you see what I mean. This is soooooooo cute this poem! I love it! -
beautifully written
-

Fabulous!
This is the best poem I've read all day! I have a 3 month old grandson and I can just imagine him as I read this. I appreciate and love the effort you put into making this rhyme and for painting such a beautiful picture. -
amazingly wonderful
This is so lyrical!! it is almost like you have to sing/song this read and in a low voice. It was an amazingly wonderful piece of writing. It is touching and sweet and the vivid imagery made it come alive. good job. -
beautiful peice. i hope you are saying it to your babes.. it is very soothing xxx
-
Lovely piece with a soft gent le flow to it.loved the piccie. Why do babies always sleep with their hands up?????
-
this has all the qualities of any good lullabye... easy to read and remember, rhythmic, smooth on the ears.... it's a very nice write... the only thing i would perhaps change is:
"As the angels watch them sleep"
maybe change this to 'As angels watch them in their sleep'...
it's closer to the meter scheme that you're already using for the majority of the poem, and it adds to the repetition that you already started with "watch/watchful"...
however you choose to leave it though, it's still an excellent write -

An adorable lullaby, I would love to hear this set to music. Or published in a book, with that lilting rhythm it would be a pleasurable and soothing experience for any wee one. Best wishes in the contest, I feel you have an excellent chance for the Gold
The baby in the picture is almost as pretty as my Granddaughter
which is saying a lot!
-
Bravo!! And what a sweet little one you have
-
Beautiful!
Sweet and soft and all things good! We love this poem!
It's a lullaby to put us in the mood for a happy night's sleep! What a darling baby picture, too. I bet this baby is a real family member.
-
lovely ... light ... a fun, sweet piece. flows nicely and wonderful imagery. "Their heads are filled with magic dreams
Of starry nights and moonlight beams" -- lovely words! -
A sweet lullaby :-) I'm not very good at these, mine usually end up creepy...so real congratulations to you for doing something so well that's I'm rubbish at LOL Had a feel of Peter Pan with the stardust. Real fun :-)
-
awesome
Wow, this is such a good poem! I love how nicely it flows and the rhyming is nicely done. I hope to put my children to sleep by singing to them. We will see though. lol. I can't get over how good it is! You are amazing. Absolutley amazing. Best of luck in the contest! All4hugs -
What a lovely poem. It brought me back to when my children were that small and I used to rock them to sleep with a song.
Nicely done! -
Dear sewasham,
This is such a fun yet peaceful piece and I've got to tell you, I truly enjoyed this and smiled softly through the entire write.
The images this brought forth in my mind were so tender yet fun and helped me feel as if I were a babe being led by a safe and friendly Sandman myself off to Dreamer's Street. This Steet seems to me that it would be a place to enjoy in my mind while my body rested. I hope this is making sense to you, because I know what I'm feeling and meaning, but for the first time I'm having a difficult time finding my words. Perhaps because it's so close to bed time and I've read so many lullabys! LOL Thank you so very much for taking the time to enter this contest! Best of luck to you now and always.
Blessings,
Lily
